  1. For sure, one of Keith Tippett’s finest albums.
  2. From the Herbie Complete Columbia box.
  3. I’d forgotten about the CD with that book. Time to correct that..
  4. I hear you, John, would concur with that view. There’s an article on Mike Osborne in this month’s copy - interesting but more depth would have helped. Last month’s article on Ronnie Ross was welcome but how they omitted coverage of ‘Cleopatra’s Needle’ defeats me. Ironically, Simon S. has made a return to print in this month’s copy, having departed several months ago !
  5. I only just snagged a copy (LP) just as it hit Last Chance. I remember debating at the time should I go for the LP or CD version? One of the first Mosaics I ever bought.
  6. Bummer, sorry to hear that. I suspect demand might have taken them by surprise, as Clifford says, a second run quite possible.
  7. Good to hear. Hopefully the main UK outlets will be getting some of these too. Dusty always seems to get the good stuff !
  8. Up again for this very old thread but it would seem that the ‘new’ Jazz Journal is stopping its print version effective from January and going online only. Personally I am saddened by this, as the magazine under Mark Gilbert’s helm was always a welcome read. End of an era..
  9. This one on Muse always gives me palpatations (nice album though)
  10. For that price I would expect a personal butler, complementary drinks and hors douvres, post-match goody bag and transportation to and from venue.. Do you have Commodore Vol 3?
  11. That will explain it - Jazzman site itself showing ‘sold’ so presumably pre-orders to stores are being fulfilled. I’ve never seen a box set issue come and go so fast !
  12. I’ve seen Wallace Roney a few times - the most recent occasion (still over 10 years ago) was with Herbie Hancock. My favourite concert from him though was with Mulgrew Miller touring ‘Hand In Hand’. Also saw him with Tony Williams’ Quintet on one memorable (and free) occasion.
  13. From the new Jazzman Rendell/Carr box, just arrived. Mine is no. 946 of 1000, can it really be almost sold out in less than a week. ‘Shades of Blue’ first on deck, beautiful stereo pressing, can’t fault it. The LP sleeve is very nicely done with the flipback but suspect that the original artwork may not have been available as not quite as sharp as the orig. Otherwise, can’t fault it. Nice sturdy box to hold the LPs in as well. Vinyl reissue of the decade !
  14. Is that because everyone on the pitch would be semi-permafrost? Why didn’t I think of that ?
  15. Plus a very interesting essay on the background behind the Dolphy Series.
  16. Fascinating - not aware of that.
  17. Yes Clifford, have been a fan of the Verve Elite CD for years so nice to have a decent vinyl copy. Those Verve Polygrams from the early 1970s are not bad at all. Looking at Richard Williams’ sleeve notes it would appear that this also pre-dates the US issue so I guess it must have stayed in the vaults unreleased for a few years until this version came out.
  18. The Rendell/Carr box is now out and mine has shipped !
  19. UK Verve - nice NM copy.
