  1. Track 8 - James Moody ‘Secret Love’ from ‘Never Again !’ (Muse) with Mickey Tucker on B3 organ.
  2. Thanks for that.
  3. An Xmas present read, so far so good. Some of the events I recall either seeing or hearing about on the Beeb. Also vividly recall the early BBC2 evening news bulletin rebroadcasting the main US CBS Vietnam war news of the day before. A ‘WTF’ moment was what I later realised was Walter Cronkite introducing film of B-52 bomber formations over jungle, taken from above (probably from an accompanying F-4 I guess). Those sort of things as a youngster tend to stick in the memory like limpets. Reading the book, this is likely to have been one of the ‘Linebacker’ raids, possibly over the Central Highlands.
  4. One of my favourite releases of 2018 - Mike Westbrook ‘ Catania’
  5. A late Happy Birthday !
  6. Er - shouldn’t the above be ‘Luciano said ?’
  7. UK Columbia, stereo
  8. An outstanding Mosaic Select..
  9. Amazed that the Clifford Brown Emarcy Box hasn’t already been snaffled..
  10. Soul Note - nice memento of seeing Knepper, Adams and Richmond around the time this was recorded. Possibly the same European tour ? I would say ‘yes’, although I haven’t heard it. Can’t be too many Steam LPs that made it to the USA as this was Stan and Jackie Tracey’s own label and I think this title is one of the more obscure ones. According to the bio, Stan enjoyed gigging with Sal.
  11. Forgot how good this one was..
  12. Yazz Ahmed ‘La Saboteuse’ (Naim)
  13. Wasn’t that the publication which Kiyoshi Koyama was involved with? - the guy behind those great Mercury/Emarcy and Keynote box sets (amongst other things). He knows his stuff !
  14. Reviews of that album mention some overdubbing and Pukwana on piano as well as saxophones. Came out originally on the ‘Caroline’ subsidiary in Virgin’s early days, when they were a bit more adventurous with jazz releases.
  15. Remember this one coming out - almost by stealth. Probably paid for byprofits from John Handy ‘Hard Work’? Will dig out the 2LP set. Just now - Atlantic black label:
  16. Great set - need to dust that one off..
  17. CD6 - ‘Peter and the Wolf’
  18. Amazing what you can do with an old Baird TV, a wig stand, a rose and a bit of art school tat..
