  1. Oliver Nelson CD 2 - The 'Jazz Interactions' Orchestra
  2. Good grief !
  3. Nice record. Good band. Bought mine at a Barbara Thompson gig. Yes, have it on CD but couldn't resist a vinyl copy when I saw it today. This one also came with a really neat Contemporary Music network colour tour brochure. Not bad for six quid !
  4. A couple of my Miles Davis CD box sets came from there. They were 'on special' and way cheaper than the UK shop prices at the time (pre-internet shopping).
  5. UJ&RE 'United Live - Opus Sechs' (Mood) Signed by Jon Hiseman, Barbara Thomson and Eberhard Weber
  6. Galen Caesar Cornelius
  7. I really like the Quincy. I find that - as with the Oliver Nelson - it is a set that tends to be opened up and spun quite a lot.
  8. Found mine on the wall display of a (now gone) record store - mono NY USA with ear for £10. Not mint but (after a record clean) not bad at all. Those were the days !
  9. Anthony Cleopatra Foxy Cleopatra
  10. Has anyone picked up the Resonance 2LP vinyl yet and got any opinions on it?
  11. Oliver Nelson, CDs 3 and 4. 'Sound Pieces', 'The Kennedy Dream' and 'Spirit of '67' with Pee Wee Russell
  12. Very nice - I always find that these signed LPs tend to have 'good karma'.
  13. Something called a ring modulator was used a lot on electric pianos back then. I remember George Cables recording with it. Woody Shaw's 'Song of Songs' on Contemporary comes immediately to mind re: Cables with ring modulator.
  14. Looks like they were doing a 'special' that day on George Harrison's box. Excellent store to visit, especially for Japanese Blue Note CDs. Other than CDs in place of LPs, it hadn't really changed that much by the 1990s. It was pretty well my first port of call every time I set foot in LA and, heck, they even did free parking !
  15. Belated Happy Birthday !
  16. Emcee 5 'Let's Take Five' (UK Columbia mono EP) Newcastle hard bop's finest hour ! (or 15 mins)
  17. Or Kate Bush doing another live performance....
  18. Too bad that we don't have a direct line on this board to Bob Belden to ask this question !
  19. Grachan Moncur III 'Echoes of Prayer' (JCOA/Virgin) A rare foray of the Bearded One (Branson) into jazz..
  20. Happy Birthday !
  21. I never got propositioned there MG Must have been the student scarf that did it
  22. Strange - your homeland was where I got my King pressing 'Destination Out'. I must have bucked the system.. BBSteve - I wonder if they came from the same source as those cheap DJM LPs, which were also Pye pressings? Most of those Cadet twofers I came across though seem to have been US imports, with the inevitable cutout corners. Yes, Mole had lots of them. Lots of Cadet single LP issues around at that time too (appallingly bad reproductions of Argo LP sleeves).
  23. They were a pretty common site in the UK cut-out racks of the mid-late 70s.
