  1. Yikes ! Taking into account the number that were pressed though, I'm not suprised.
  2. That's true. One of the good things about cricket (watching Boycott bat etc.) is that you can also snooze/have a beer/listen to 'Tales../Tarkus' etc
  3. Really? A highlight of the year (or any year) in my view, considering the last one here was 1949. Unmissable, whether or not you are watching the sailing from Weymouth, track events in the stadium (wish there had been more tickets on offer though) or just catching it all live 'on the box'.
  4. This Summer is going to be a washout for weather. It's the Olympics, remember? Weird flash floods on Friday evening - 'Independence Day' clouds, lightning and heavy hail covering the whole of the Somerset Levels. Must be a Somerset thing (probably true - they get all of the cr*p coming up from Lyme Bay).
  5. Ebeneezer Good Jack Good The Goods (Life)
  6. Clear blue skies down here. We had a bit of hail last week though.
  7. Aditoff Gene Orloff Van McCoy
  8. Me want ! Now spinning Jackie McLean 'Action' (BN Liberty, stereo)
  9. Happy Birthday !
  10. Sorry to hear of this - RIP. He was on so many fine sessions. My fave is probably the 'Slightly Latin' date with RR Kirk in which he was paired with Martin Banks in the trumpet/flugel 'section'. Big too for the McCoy Tyner Big Band recordings.
  11. Roy Haynes Desmond Haynes Alvin Kalicharan
  12. Fascinating !
  13. Thanks for the reminder. I'm certainly keen to check this out.
  14. Have a great one Erik !
  15. Long Live The King..... Long Live The King.. Happy Birthday !
  16. Very sad news to start the day with. The recordings with Wardell Gray were some of the very first jazz I ever heard and so highly of influence - and for that (and the many other great LPs) I've got to give Mr Charles a big thanks. RIP. The Atlantic 'Tentet' and 'Word From Bird' LPs will be coming out today.
  17. They will probably be sold to collectors, don't you think? Yes, I guess so. Hopefully some of them will put in appearances at air meets across the globe. And maybe Duxford will get one or two.
  18. "...or a Samantha Fox tune on pink vinyl.."
  19. Some very adverse comments on this particular ebay seller on this site:- Crazy Rocking Records Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole !
  20. Good news for Spitfire fans. It looks as though impending moves between the Burmese and UK governments should see the release of about 20 aircraft which were buried in a pit and preserved post WW2 ! Hopefully these can be made flightworthy and radically increase the number of Spitfires available for display.
  21. Looks suspiciously similar to a certain Japanese Grant Green cover !
  22. Austin Powers Simon Dee Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch..
  23. Jeremy Beadle UCL Beadles Jeremy Bentham
  24. MJQ Complete Atlantic Studio, CD4. This is a very strong set - already one of my favourite Mosaics, and that is saying something ! Ron McMaster has also done a really great job with the sound. Nice to see fellow Board member Mike Weil getting a credit in the booklet too.
  25. Would make a great cover for one of ECM's more excitable releases. More like a Wayne Shorter Columbia cover a la 'Phantom Navigator' !
