Very sad news to start the day with. The recordings with Wardell Gray were some of the very first jazz I ever heard and so highly of influence - and for that (and the many other great LPs) I've got to give Mr Charles a big thanks. RIP. The Atlantic 'Tentet' and 'Word From Bird' LPs will be coming out today.

They will probably be sold to collectors, don't you think? Yes, I guess so. Hopefully some of them will put in appearances at air meets across the globe. And maybe Duxford will get one or two.

Good news for Spitfire fans. It looks as though impending moves between the Burmese and UK governments should see the release of about 20 aircraft which were buried in a pit and preserved post WW2 ! Hopefully these can be made flightworthy and radically increase the number of Spitfires available for display.

MJQ Complete Atlantic Studio, CD4. This is a very strong set - already one of my favourite Mosaics, and that is saying something ! Ron McMaster has also done a really great job with the sound. Nice to see fellow Board member Mike Weil getting a credit in the booklet too.

Would make a great cover for one of ECM's more excitable releases. More like a Wayne Shorter Columbia cover a la 'Phantom Navigator' !

I've always thought that cover design was damned cool - and the music inside it just as good.

Why the heck did they convert that place into another damned boutique hotel and gut most of the place out? What a waste..

I have all 3 of these LPs and they get regular plays. The Strata-East is particularly good.

Looking at it, it's actually the PO handling fee - although the sticker says UK Border Agency. £8 just for the priviledge of having the box opened ! At least I must count my blessings that the sets at least arrived in one piece.
