  1. Very true ! Gerald W. has an infectious enthusiasm for life so no surprise that he is still coming up with the goods !
  2. I remember one sizeable Tower Records store in San Diego which I used to visit whenever I had business trips there. It was on a busy road to the North of the centre, if I remember correctly (not sure about the Sports Arena, don't remember seeing that). I'm sure I picked up a bundle of Conns and one of the Miles Davis boxes at that place. Not as big a selection as Tower Sunset Boulevard but still pretty good !
  3. Blimey !
  4. Manuel Geoff Love Courtney Love
  5. Victor Feldman Victor Sylvester Victor Kiam
  6. Sad to hear this - RIP. I am a big fan of the films put out by Rhapsody Films. He did a major service to jazz with that !
  7. Joe Brown Gordon Brown Gordon Ottershaw
  8. Or 'Am I Blue' to 'Some Other Stuff' My favourite Blue Note vintage !
  9. Peter Ind Billy Bauer Sal Mosca
  10. Grant Green 'Sunday Mornin'' (Toshiba, stereo)
  11. Don't think it's the same recording. Seems I had both back in the day. There's Touching and Blood with the Roling cover, and a Jazz Life pressing of Blood which has the same catalog number/label. Definitely the same music. Then there's a Polydor Blood which is different music and yet another jacket. The Polydor Blood is generally refered as 'Paul Bley in Haarlem' and looks like this: my copy of Touching looks like this Ahh - WH Smiths for 69p for a Fontana. Those were the days. I wonder if they did any Tubby Hayes's and Ric Colbecks at that price? Now spinning - Stan Tracey Trio 'Perspectives' (Columbia Lansdowne Series, stereo)
  12. John McLaughlin Derek Bailey Tony Oxley
  13. CD3 on today with about 4 replays. That one absolutely smokes !
  14. Yes. I'm sure there's a thread where JSngry posted some recollections of meeting him.
  15. 'Ray Warleigh's First Album' (Philips, stereo) Terry Smith 'Fall Out' (Philips, stereo)
  16. I have the 3 volumes of that. I'd forgotten that Miles was on there. Not the greatest of fidelity on those LPs - a "curate's egg".
  17. Good to hear. Germany gets lots of important things right ! Is that in addition to basic state pension?
  18. Hopefully you didn't batten down your deck and LPs per the earthquake predictor's recommendations, porcy? Now spinning - Paul Moer Trio 'The Contemporary Jazz Classics Of' (Japanese Del-Fi, mono) and Dick Grove Orchestra 'Little Bird Suite' (Pacific Jazz, mono)
  19. Record Rater Doug Rader Panty Raider Don Rader Don Menza Don Piestrup
  20. Very sad to hear this. I think the last time I saw him was in the trumpet section of Gerald Wilson's Orchestra. There was some comment made at the time regarding the combined ages of Gerald, Snooky and Jack Nimitz (I think). RIP Snooky - at least he had a good long 'innings' and what a career.
  21. Nigel Planer Neil Vivian
  22. Doesn't seem to mention citizenship so on the basis of the good old anglo-saxon principle of 'if it aint specifically mentioned it's not an issue' should be OK, hopefully.
