  2. Yeah, those were the days when LP back covers had things like Carlo Kramer's phone no. on the back ('MUSeum 1810') and you could actually get through to the man himself (in the basement of the British Museum presumably, next to the mummy's tombs) direct via your antique hand-crank phone set and complain about Eric Dolphy's intonation.

  4. That direct-cut recording is great ! No, not from CF's record collection but the Gramophone Magazine review copy. Reviewed by CF in Jan 1961.

  11. There's quite a few of these that I don't have - so will be looking out for them at the likes of Fopp for £5.

  13. Congrats to that fine singer, Claire Martin for the just-anounced award of the OBE for 'services to music'. Always nice to see one of these awards go to a worthy, especially a jazz worthy - and not the usual paper pushing establishment figure.. ('Sir' Mervyn King take a bow) OBE List
  14. Hope Mr Konitz is OK ! Best wishes for a quick recovery.
  15. Yeah, I watched that too (with sign language at about 4am ). I don't think many in the rest of the band were too impressed when he went off with McLaughlin and became Devadip ! I've recorded this (non sign language version) and also the live 1976 concert plus the 'Guitar Heroes at the BBC Vol 5' so some good viewing there for when the rain clouds come in.

  18. Yes, have that version too. And presumably the tracks were recorded at the 'Both/And' - although there have been contradictory stories on this.

  20. Hey, stop buying all the good CDs from Fopp before the rest of us get chance for a return raid !

  23. Thanks for that. I need to get hold of most of the UJ&RE reissues and will check out Deep Discount. It would also be nice to have the duets on the 2CD.
