  2. I'm amazed that both the Wilson and Parlan sets are still in print. Both gems - don't miss, folks.
  3. Yeah - somehow this one has eluded me over the years. Thanks again ! $59 plus postage is a heck of a deal !
  4. Thank you very much - just snagged it. I needed an LP copy of this gem.
  5. The King is very good - but the New York mono deep groove version is better I think. Well, that's my personal preference.
  6. I used to use Braxton's tune titles as help with my organic chemistry homework. Now spinning Bobby Hutcherson 'The View From The Inside' (BN blue label, stereo)
  7. The 'Undisputed Truth' version of that one is damn good.

  9. Victor's brother. Talented family! He was a jazz fan too. Saw him one night at Ronnie Scotts - he ended up getting carried out by the door staff !
  10. This is one of those albums I've been looking for, but it always seems too expensive. Worth the top dollar? Yes, I think so. A nice, laid back session with some strong Turrentine. Not unlike 'Midnight Blue', also with Ray Barretto. If it hasn't already come out on CD, Blue Note should really think about reissuing it I think (paging Mr Cuscuna..... )
  11. Did you ever read his 'Diaries'? An extremely revealing read - and very successfully turned into a drama by the BBC a few years ago (I think it was called 'Fantabulosa'). Williams used to appear on prime-time TV chat shows on a very regular basis over here and his ability to ad-lib in outrageous manner was rarely surpassed.

  13. And perfectly timed for the pirate-like financial mayhem in Wall St and London this week..
  14. You could always sell me one of them..
  15. Kenny Burrell 'Freedom' (King BN GXK)
  16. And what a great tune that is ! Also came out as a BN 45rpm as an alternate take, I believe.
  17. Which Buddy Collette bio is that? Details, please. Isoardi Book Just happened to be reasing it the other day and read the section on Jackson. Thanks, Sidewinder. I think I'll be able to come up with that one... No problem Ted ! It's a good book, well worth grabbing hold of.
  18. 'The Ghetto Walk' on Miles' Complete In A Silent Way sessions. Chambers came in for one session at 52nd St studio, I think.

  20. RIP, very sad news . His sound certainly went a very long way to defining that era in the early 70s.
