  1. I've been driving less, put foreign holidays on hold for a while and added insulation to the house. Other than that it's business as normal - maybe a few more contributions into the mortgage and pension funds over the next 5 years as a buffer. Oh, and less vinyl.
  2. Meanwhile - over here there is fallout - as a truck load of local authorities have disclosed that they invested in Icelandic banks. Nice one.. And the Icelandic PM blames this country for the demise of his banks. Oh yeah? Gordon's not impressed: Icelandic Mess Reminds me of way back in the late 70s seeing a couple of our warships being patched up in one of our Royal Dockyards after cod war 'altercations' Up North. It was pretty serious at the time - I wonder if we will see more of this friction as the writs fly and Icelandic assets get impounded?
  3. Odds are that it was a suicide. Alternatively he may have thought he could swim to his relatives' house across the Thames Estuary. Tragic, nevertheless. Strange echos of Albert Ayler's fate - and around the same time..
  4. Good luck with finding this gem - I'll keep my eyes open for a spare.
  5. Yep - a winner from the first note. I don't have any of this material so it is a bit of a revelation. 'Hot Jazz On Blue Note' for sure. Sound is pretty good too !
  6. On 'dime' quite a while back - and with cover art. I've got the feeling though that only one of the disks (as per your listing) was 're-seeded'.
  7. Art Hodes Blue Note LP set, LP1. Schmokin' !
  8. I saw that F-IRE big band tour led by Barak Schmool and even bought the T-shirt ! A bit of a mixed bag - some of it worked better than others - but good to see new music being tried out and some good, enthusiastic new players coming on-stream. At the time, Finn Peters and Ingrid Laubrock impressed me in particular.
  9. Wayne Shorter 'The Soothsayer' (BN King)
  10. Hope it's a good one !
  11. Pretty conclusive that it isn't Linda Gray then !
  12. Of course ! ( Duhh..) 'The Shrimp'. The eyebrows and pout are pretty distinctive. Ubiquitous back then..
  13. That jawline certainly looks like Linda Gray !
  14. Hopefully liquidised.
  15. Bring it on ! It's so obvious - yet no-one in this damn country has got the balls to do it. Instead I guess we get another 30 years of Wogan, Jonathan Ross etc.
  16. Miles Davis 'At Fillmore' (CBS 2LP)
  17. Congratulations ! It deserves to be at No. 1. Will give it a spin this morning.
  18. That would be the special 'Hoffmann Board' edition..
  19. Wow - that's great to hear that he is still gigging and full of enthusiasm for the music !
  20. Happy Birthday to the most elusive Moderator on Planet Earth !
  21. Hope it's a good one !
  22. Happy Birthday from me too !
  23. What goes around comes around etc.
