  1. Isn't Fresh Sound/Lonehill Global HQ out there, John? Sounds like a nice litle excursion.
  2. What sort of films do you do, exactly?
  3. It's basically the same channel line-up as "Freeview" digital TV over here. Except Setanta and those minor Sky Sports channels, which I think are pay per view.
  4. As for the Lovano, looks like it is available for download and viewing at leisure via BBC I-Player. Alas, the interesting looking Scott Walker documentary produced by Bowie is view only and not downloadable into the I-Player library. So available for 6 days if there's anyone who missed it (ie. me).
  5. Looks like it's back in stock at Dusty !
  6. John Dowland In Darkness Let Me Dwell Morrissey would like it.
  7. That's the one ! (with the Hungarian fiddle and cimbalon)
  8. Tony Williams 'Life Time' (BN NY USA stereo). With Sam Rivers.
  9. I heard a rumour that BBC4 was going to run a season of vintage Jazz 625's and other gems but can't substantiate it, I'm afraid. Anyone know anything on this?
  10. I think I did. They played Bath one year at the Pavilion, didn't they?
  11. Missed it, I'm afraid. Hopefully they will repeat it.
  12. I have the first of the Phil Cohrans to come out ('On The Beach') and it is a very groovy listen. Available on vinyl too. And Pete Cosey is on there ! All of the Kloss Prestiges are worth getting hold of. The 'Grits and Gravy' session with the vocals I particularly like. 'Tome VI' is great too. Almost like jazz-influenced trance music, definitely worth picking up. I think Melle is on soprano - don't recall any baritone on there. Have the Verve vinyl. Lots of items on this thread look interesting. Must resist..
  13. Thank you, Bev They are doing a 'workshop' in the afternoon and I will try to check that out too. The performance is at Poole Arts Centre.
  14. Julian Priester, Marine Intrusion 'Polarization' Overdue for reissue.
  15. Eddie Henderson is playing a gig in my area Sunday night with a UK band called 'Ambulance'. Hope to be able to go.
  16. Weren't they over £3 prior to that? (or was it £2 10s 6d ).. In any case, they cost very serious dosh back then, in relative terms. No wonder there were never too many over here - the 47W63rd/NY USA pressings in particular. Maybe the French got a bit of a price break, as there seems to be more of them over there.. Now playing Gilles Peterson 'Impressed - Vol 1' (UK Universal 2LP set, LP1). Ronnie Ross
  17. Ray's being in Covent Garden. Shaftesbury Avenue (or did it move from an earlier location in Covent Garden?). There was a folk and blues store in the basement. Now spinning Herbie Hancock 'Maiden Voyage' (BN NY USA mono, DG side 1)
  18. Yep, Porcy - 'Ray's Jazz' is actually located within the Foyles Bookshop (big book store) on Charing Cross Road, just up from Leicester Square tube. Very nice place to visit - best capuccino stop in London, recommended. This store is run by the son of the former owner of 'Rays' which used to be on Shaftesbuty Avenue until the mid-90s. 'Dobell's' used to be at a site on the opposite side of the road to Foyles but closed back in the early 80s at the time of the major recession. A legendary haunt of visisting US players apparently and Doug Dobell the owner used to dabble in vinyl with the '77' record label. He also did a Joe Harriott release for Melodisc.
  19. And that cover is an absolute classic ! Great album by the way. Unjustly neglected.
  20. Unfortunately I didn't know who Tubby Hayes was when that list came out. I ended up buying a Miles Davis 'Green Haze' twofer from Ed for £2.99 ish. :rsly:
  21. Don't worry Porcy I'm an LP12/Aro/XX-2 man through-and-through. Indoctrinated !
  22. Amazing ! First bought an LP from Ed Dipple pre-Mole when he was doing mail order. I've still got one of his lists and it has a near-mint Fontana of Tubby Hayes 'Mexican Green' for £3. Brian Priestley I used to listen to every week on his excellent Capital Radio jazz radio show. He sure knows his Mingus !
  23. Barbara Wojirsch Took it with her When she retired.
