  1. Gabor Szabor 'More Sorcery' (Impulse red/black stereo)
  2. Groovy !
  3. Yep. Worked out about $6 shipping to the UK, per set (not really a combined shipping but flat rate per set). Still a bargain ! The Pepper and Evans sets were $49.99 each. :rsmile:
  4. Welcome ! We pretty well all fall into that category so you should be at home.
  5. Joe Henderson Milestone set, the CD with 'Power To The People' on it. What a great session - and sound is more than acceptable on this version.
  6. Not in public, I hope!! ....just kidding! Yep, I have an old copy of the set but figured that a spare copy for what works out around £10 for the back pocket would be worth adding. An excuse really though to order the Pepper Complete Village Vanguard and Evans 'Last Waltz' bargain boxes from Newbury too. Yes !! Newbury Is The New Zweitausendeins !
  7. Totally insane ! Do I hear any advance on $19.99 anybody. How about $9.99?
  8. And link to previous thread.. Nica
  9. Amazing that she was still out and about at the clubs until 1988 diggin' the live jazz. There should be a plaque for her in Manhattan for services rendered !
  10. Received my CD and will spin it shortly. Thanks !
  11. Played pretty well all of the Oliver Nelson set on a car drive this afternoon. Tremendous !
  12. And invariably, he was 'on'. Was there ever a more consistent musician in jazz? He's certainly one of the most consistent of the trumpet greats.
  13. David - It's available on 'Listen Again' up to 7 days from broadcast.
  14. Heard this at lunchtime in the car whilst in transit (YES !!). A fabulous tribute to this remarkable lady by what sounds to be her neice (or great neice?) from the Rothschild family. Even mentions the 'rumour' of the Bird accidental killing by Blakey ! Best recollection - the first time she heard bebop apparently (Gillespie) was on the radio when flying a Lancaster bomber over North Africa during WW2 (presumably a ferry mission for the Free French).
  15. It ended at $1,585. Makes my latest purchases from Dusty of Japanese Tempo Tubby Hayes and Japanese Yusef Lateef 'Before Dawn' at $39 each feel like an absolute bargain.
  16. No doubt they were retrieved from that legendary builders skip containing all those Larry Young sets !
  17. Never heard it - but bad news, nevertheless. Typical of the 'here today, gone tomorrow' nature of commercial backing for jazz in this country though. It was always thus.
  18. Dave Holland Quartet 'Extensions' (ECM)
  19. Very Happy Birthday !
  20. Yep, cornet and flugel horn are quite different instruments. Same bore size though, I believe. The 'plumbing' is tubed around in the cornet.
  21. What sort of films do you do, exactly? I'd call them 'artistic' Say no more !
  22. MJQ 'The Comedy' (UK London, stereo) Sun Ra 'Disco 3000' (Art Yard)
  23. 'Ye' for the 'Midnight Special', 'Back at the Chicken Shack' and 'Home Cookin''. I think some of them still have import stickers on. No sign of teenage sticky uckishness ! Yep, It's actually Jazz Monthly that had the price of the LPs with the reviews. I'll check them out.
