  1. The program on Humph was good too. That man is a national institution - and still touring too (I see he has gigs coming up soon, must go and see). Fond memories of seeing that 1970s band with Bruce Turner, Kathy Stobart, Mike Pyne and Dave Green. Turner, in particular, was a very under-rated iconoclast of the clarinet and alto.
  2. Damn ! I hope they hold Tessa Jowell and Tony B. personally acountable !
  3. and what a great evening of viewing it was. I recorded the lot ! So many highlights - Oscar and Ella at their greatest, Barney Kessel, Joe Pass and the wonderful Mr Ed Thigpen. That 'Jazz 625' was a real discovery (Peterson/Brown/Thigpen, 1964).
  4. And to do a pirate raid on the vinyl shops !
  5. Hmm - I just tried it and it still seems to be free too. So far..
  6. Mike Westbrook Brass Band 'Mama Chicago' (UK RCA 2LP)
  7. Hope you have a sink handy..

  10. A bit cool but zero snow here !
  11. This sucks
  12. I tried this morning around 8am UK time and the site was down.
  13. I have the Vocalion CD but will see if I can find a vinyl. The uninspiring cover design of the LP put me off (prefer the CD !) Incidentally, one of the tracks (I think it's 'What Maria Sees') on 'Konkan Dance' is done in a superlative version with strings on the 'Reflections' album.
  14. Julian Priester and Marine Intrusion 'Polarization' (German ECM) Zoot Sims 'Zoot Sims at Ronnies' (UK Fontana, stereo)
  15. Not very nice or not buried in a box? How does the vinyl of this one sound, Clifford?
  16. I've got the 'Lennie McBrowne and the 4 Souls' LP on a Pacific Jazz original. I think it cost me £4 It's actually a World Pacific deep groove and lineup is Terry Trotter, Don Sleet, Daniel L. Jackson and Herbie Lewis.
  17. What - one of the 99?
  18. Mine's in transit..
  19. I've now jumped to box 4. Excellent stuff. Didn't know Doris Day could sing so well ! Sound is very good too, considering the age of the recordings.
  20. Agggghhhh - Of course it is ! And it was staring at me from the shelf !
  21. Thanks ! I have the released material on vinuyl but sounds like this box is worth looking for (at a good price).
  22. Nice one ! One to watch out for then, on Amazon.
  23. Just very sloppy writing today. Sorry !
  24. I've got this one. Came with the book (just about every paperback copy I've seen has had this enclosed at the back). Some very interesting things on their, not least Kenny Dorham singing on one track.
