  1. But the Swedish meatballs are good ! Not worth the walk through the endless maze to get to them though.. Now spinning Amancio D'Silva 'Reflections' (Columbia Lansdowne, stereo).

    Fred katz

I've got that one somewhere in the racks ! Thanks for the reminder - I'll dig it out.
  3. Sun Ra 'Lanquidity' (Philly Jazz reissue)
  4. 'The Super Sounds Of Bosworth' (Trunk Records) Jazzy 'library' music from the 60s and 70s from the Bosworth library. Johnny Trunk does it a again !
  5. they actually had a composite character in that film who was part me and part an ex-ikette. the ikette who wouldn't take no stuff from him and introduced tina to buddhism and how to chant to get away from him!! now, suffice it to say, i was never an ikette! the portrayal of ike was fairly accurate, i guess, but also one-sided. he most definitely was more than a one-dimensional figure. he could be extremely charming and fun to be with but he was very domineering with his women, that's for sure. Thanks ! Yes, most certainly recall the 'composite' character in the film.
  6. That's Linn for you. Klout, Lingo, Armaggedon, Ekos, Kaliber, Krapp etc.
  7. And England get a new manager from Porcy62's homeland ! :rsly:
  8. Of course, it was issued on the el cheapo-cheapo "Music For Pleasure" (MFP) label for sale to the punters in the likes of Woolies in rotary racks (remember it well..) along with 'Singalongamax Vol 98' and most of these MFP LPs never had credits. The lineup includes:- Dev Kumar (sitar), Chris Karan (tabla), Sitara (tamboura), Ray Swinfield (fl), Kenny Wheeler (flh), Jeff Clyne (b), Bill Eyden (dr) - on tracks 3 & 4 Leon Calvert replaces Kenny Wheeler and Art Morgan replaces Bill Eyden
  9. Another spin for one of my sonic faves - Chico Hamilton 'El Chico' (Speakers Corner) Whoah ! After relocating the Lingo to its own (distant) power outlet and adding several ferrite cores to the Lingo power line at source, I achieve the MOTHER of all sonic upgrades for grand cost of £10. Incredible ! The Linn Lingo is thereby proven to be a chronic polluter of the mains with lousy output filtering. Maybe I should add a Supercap at £2500?
  10. I saw that biopic of Tina Turner on TV the other week, ValerieB ('What's Love Got To Do With It'). It was a pretty damning portrayal of Ike. Any thoughts on the portrayal?
  11. That's sad news - RIP. Really like his work with Grant Green.
  12. Yeah - I can live with this. Thought I was back in Canada on Monday.
  13. Wes Montgomery 'Goin' Out Of My Head' (Verve, stereo)
  14. In brown paper bag !
  15. Anyone mentioned 'Windmill Tilter' by Kenny Wheeler/John Dankworth Orch. yet?
  16. As for rare Brit-jazz LPs, I have just secured a vinyl copy of 'Reflections' by Amancio D'Silva on the Columbia/Lansdowne series . Promises to be a good one - albeit fairly easy-ish listening. Amancio's guitar backed by orchestra arranged by Stan Tracey and David Mack from 1971. Wonder if we'll ever see that one on CD? Or 'Cosmic Eye - Dream Sequence' for that matter.
  17. Ike Quebec 'It Might As Well Be Spring' (BN NY USA stereo)
  18. If they don't get round to it soon, I'll reissue it myself.. Don't think there's been a legit issue. Not even sure that the master tapes have been found yet.
  19. Wonder what the LP set version fetches..
  20. Not including England !
  21. Incidentally, 'Jazz at Toad Hall' can be obtained from Dutton Vocalion at a very good price. Another nice one - with Ronnie Ross in the lineup.
  22. And here 'tis. They don't do cover art like that any more..
  23. Oh damn - don't remind me of that one , Roger. I once passed on a £20 original LP because I thought £20 was too much (what a moron) - even though the 'period' cover nude is worth the price of admission irrespective of how well Kenny Wheeler plays on it. I could cry...
