  2. Thanks. The title wasn't deliberate !
  3. Hey, just checked out your AAJ interview with Dizzy, Clifford. Must have been fascinating. Is he now gigging regularly again?
  4. What a place - must go back there !
  5. Great - thanks for this ! I wonder if there's any mention of the Tempo 'Nowhere To Go' soundtrack EP he did with Tubby Hayes?
  6. Wasn't he also on 'AT's Delight'. Always liked his playing on that one. RIP and another sad passing.
  7. One more for the programme.
  8. Last seen ranting into infinity. A bit like cryogenic Dr Evil and Mr Bigglesworth.
  9. Alan Skidmore 'TCB' (Philips, stereo). With Malcolm Griffiths and John Taylor. 'The Sensational Sax of Herb Geller' (London, mono EP 45rpm)
  10. Yep, that disk 6 is a real highlight of a set that is full of highlights. Love it when Jimmy S. comes in for those funky breaks after the loud brass-dominated sections.
  11. Wishing you well for the recovery. Take care !
  12. Clifford Brown Complete Blue Note LP set. LP4 - Birdland Blakey session.
  13. That's a really good mindset to start with. Jim was kind enough to host the homeless after the BNBB demise - in what could well have been a temporary set up but turned out to be 4 years (was it that long?). We've been here before, it can be solved and it is worth solving !
  14. Just came in from a 200 mile car journey and I read this thread. What the hell happened? Jim and Organissimo have done an absolutely fantastic job in hosting this board since the demise of the BNBB - without doubt the finest jazz bulletin board, bar none, and with an unparalleled level of expertise in the collective user-base. There's rarely a jazzy question raised that cannot be answered by the collective membership - on any aspect of the music. Barring the politics, its also a great place to hang out. I'd like to thank Jim and Organissimo very much for hosting us since that transition (was it 2003?) and providing a home from home and even tolerating the Mosaic and vinyl fetishists amongst us. I hope that, as happened in 2003, some way can be found to keep the community together and would also be willing to make a contribution if that is what is required. Come what may, I'd be delighted to keep in touch by email with the good and valued friends across the globe I've made on this board.
  15. Bill Doggett Big John Patton Brian Auger
  16. Count me in also for pre-OOP in about 10 years time. I've yet to fully listen through the first one.
  17. 'Bu' Blakey Ginger Baker Big Black
  18. Would that be producer/mover-and-shaker Teddy Reig? (of Savoy, Roost and Roulette fame).
  19. No blowtorch in this one -
  20. Still one of the 'great originals' over here. Nobody else sounds remotely like him ! Mingus certainly recognised that.
  21. Interesting you should suggest Presencer in this thread...I think he's a fine player, but not outstanding, even amongst London trumpet players (all IMHO!). I always think of Gerald as a great technician, but fine player nevertheless - and very professional. He does a lot of teaching I believe (Royal Academy?) and was in his earlier days strongly featured in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
  22. Hmm - I wonder what shipping might be to the UK?
  23. John Surman/John Warren 'Tales of the Algonquin' (Deram, stereo)
  24. Columnia Small Groups CD2 1 and 2. The Braff sessions. Like it !
