  1. Didn’t Chewy track down their HQ location on an old thread?
  2. Interesting - I’d recognised Wofford and Chuck Findley but just couldn’t place it. Even suspected that it was something on Discovery. Grrr !
  3. I had a strong hunch it was Teddy Edwards. Garcia draws a blank with me though.
  4. NY, mono Yep, saw that band playing many of the tracks on Eastern Rebellion 2 but with David Williams in place of Sam Jones.
  5. The CD medium really came into its own for Mosaic on those gargantuan Basie Studio and Maynard Fergusson Roulette sets. Hernia-inducing on LP !
  6. I always remember an episode of BBC ‘Sounds of Jazz’ back in the 70s (1977-ish) where he was due to be interviewed by Peter Clayton in London and never turned up, having gone AWOL in the city. As I recall it, not much had been heard from him over here for many years, he had recently made a recording comeback and the radio interview was eagerly anticipated.
  7. Stealth Kenny Wheeler and Derek Bailey on the second (unissued) film soundtrack, from 1971.
  8. Wouldn’t be George Arvanitas, would it?
  9. Track 9 sounds like Frank Foster. With a very Harold Mabern-ish piano. Live performance - Europe?
  10. Bring it on ! More than happy with CDs and LPs. Never got into purchasing downloads and in general I use Spotify to check out albums I am unfamiliar with. CDs over the last decade or so have been a bargain. In contrast to the price-gouging (especially here in the UK) in the younger days of the medium. It used to be £15 and up here back in the early 90s !
  11. Frank Foster?
  12. CDs 4-7. Roof-raisingly brilliant.
  13. There’s three volumes I think - I have copies of all 3.
  14. Sad news, RIP.
  15. Those digipacks always had the feel of East German fabrication circa 1980 to me !
  16. ‘Martin is our Maitre d’ - that’s French for “moron” ‘. ’Joe Henderson is in the Club next week (collective gasp round the room)...... Joe ‘piano’ Henderson’
  17. Stan Getz has just appeared on TV on an old BBC Shirley Bassey Show. With Joanne Brackeen, Clint Houston and Billy Hart, 1976. Looking at the backing Orchestra for Shirley, Bob Efford on saxes in the lineup. Must have been just before he emigrated to the States. Time capsule !
  18. Pye 2LP - very good selection. Rich to Hayes.
  19. Expubident, stereo
  20. My Muse vinyl cost £5 I think. JazzMessengers are very good to deal with - friendly and with good shipping arrangements.
  21. Includes Parker, Gillespie and Roach with a Tristano combo. Good work by Tony Williams, RIP.
