  1. This crap has been called everything from a swastika to a rip-off of the logo on airhead 70s kids TV show 'Tiswas'. Wonder what the jerks were paid who designed it ?
  2. There's probably a better market for the vinyl now that there was when Mosaic were doing vinyl routinely. We need to keep repeating this idea like a mantra to Mr Cuscuna ! For sure there would be at least 4 buyers - 1 in Paris, 2 in UK and one in Italy.
  3. ..and a glance at the catalogue shows only 2 pages of Miles LP sets (now reduced by two sets) and the Coltrane/Monk single LP. The day of 'zero Mosaic vinyl' looms nearer.
  4. Almost fell off my seat when I saw that. In my dreams !
  5. Jackie McLean 'Jackie's Bag' (BN 47W63rd/NY USA mono). No 'ear' or deep groove but sounds fantastic !
  6. Andrew Hill 'Point Of Departure' (BN NY USA stereo)
  7. Can't keep up. Still got a pile of new vinyl 12" and 10" to get through, 8 CD Mosaics half-played without even thinking about the numerous 'dime' concerts that have filled up my 400GByte hard drive. All those great Rollins and Adderley concerts etc. On the plus side, this is the greatest time for universal jazz recording availability in the history of the Universe.
  8. Germaine Greer Dame Edna Everage 'Sir' Les Patterson
  9. Pat Martino 'Strings !' (Prestige blue label stereo). Beautifully signed by Pat on the front. And with one of the greatest versions of 'Minority'. Archie Shepp 'On This Night' (UK HMV mono)
  10. How is the vinyl selection at Jazz Record Center these days? Any nice stuff?
  11. Mike Westbrook 'Solid Gold Cadillac'
  12. Prog-jazz with Amancio D'Silva, Clem Alford and John Mayer.
  13. Neil Ardley with beard and babe. Jon Hiseman with hat and stick.
  14. I listened to records 5, 6 and 7 a few days ago. The 'Of Love and Peace' session is very challenging but I am starting to like it. I much prefer the more 'conventional' Larry Young stuff. The 'Unity' session is in a league of its own. I really like this set . I also like the fact that it has nine records for nine albums. That must be my French cartesian side.... I had a similar reaction to 'Of Love and Peace' but now am of the opinion that it is magnificent ! 'Seven Steps' took a bit of a while getting used to if you have been listening to Miles' version for years and years. Just bought an original vinyl, which should now be on its way. I found that one the hardest of the original Larry Young Blue Notes to source.
  15. Joy Adamson George Adamson Elsa
  16. Yes ! The music is wonderful and the saga with which the set was painstakingly compiled by Mr Cuscuna and one of EMI's engineers from tapes stored in the vaults (above one of the old London meat markets I believe ) is fascinating. I still have to make my way right through that particular set. When I get a spare week I will do so.
  17. Larry Young's 'Of Love and Peace' is not a bad starting point - with its Eddie Gale trumpet bursts.
