  1. Just piling into Miles 63-64 set, LP 1. Set #785.
  2. Thanks. Unfortunately it would probably be easier for me to fly to Wiesbaden than drive way up to Harrogate. Strange choice of venue !
  3. Looks tempting. I'm all for old ditties about tapeworms and city gal milking. It will make a nice companion piece for my Ivor Biggun LPs.
  4. Looking forward to seeing Dusty Groove's review of this one..
  5. An inexpensive copy of Joe Harriott 'Movement' would be nice (dream on ).
  6. Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley 'In The Land Of Hi-Fi' (UK Emarcy/Nixa mono flat edge)
  7. I got the two Tatums - and yes they were about 15 bucks. Tjobbe would be able to confirm the prices (wonder where he is?)
  8. That one crops up in weird places. Found my copy on Guernsey ! I have a funny image in my head of sidewinder on Guernsey, engaging in off-shore banking/cow-milking/prowling for OOP BN releases. Guy Visiting friends, no milking . It was in the only CD shop on the island, in St Peter Port. It was hiding at the back of a rack - long after it had gone OOP on the mainland.
  9. Lester Young 'The Complete Alladin Sessions'
  10. That one crops up in weird places. Found my copy on Guernsey !
  11. Glad to hear it went well Time to put the feet up and get some serious 24/7 Mosaic listening in.
  12. Mustn't forget those Pac Jazz Buddy Rich. 'Mercy Mercy Mercy', 'The New One', 'Buddy and Soul' etc.
  13. Are these all in-print in Europe? They are OOP in the US. Guy I guess most are now OOP although I picked up the Grolnick in London within the last 12 months.
  14. Mustn't forget 'Basie Meets Bond'
  15. The Don Wilkerson and George Braith 'Complete Blue Note' twofers. (oh, hang on - I think these are Conns). Also the Don Grolnick 'Complete Blue Note' set. And the Ken McIntyre 'Complete UA Recordings' and the Kenton 'Innovations Orchestra' 2CD.
  16. I'm having trouble keeping up with the great stuff recently put on that site. Slightly off topic but has anyone else checked out that German TV DVD of vintage clips of Armstrong, Monk, Duke, Davis, Adderley, Lateef etc. That one is fantastic. As is that DVD with Jimmy Owens directing a band for German TV (SWF?) with Slide Hampton, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Joachim Kuhn etc. Also some good Poppa Lou and Lonnie Smith on there recently too.
  17. Sadly, I doubt it. But one lives in hope ! (I still need that 'Last Waltz' set).
  18. It's quite acceptable to my ears, Matthew. Really must give the set a spin, don't listen to it enough. Picked it up for something like $30 in the zweitausendeins bonanza !
  19. Amazon UK had it at about half price I think about a year ago. I'm beginning to wish I had gone for it then.
  20. Miles Davis 'Miles In The Sky' (UK CBS original, stereo)
  21. Weizen — look for sound samples of the first "Impressed" compilation by Gilles Peterson. It has one track from the Gonsalves album (a very nice swinger). If that track is any indication, the album should be fine indeed. The sound too (at least on that one track) is excellent. Yep, the 'Impressed' is a good place to sample it. Mmm - might well add the 'Jazz Quintet 60' to my eventual order too.
  22. What's the sound like on the Hutch Select? I've got all of the LPs and love the music to bits but the convenience of having it all together might tempt me with the Mosaic. The Liberty LPs sound OK but like most (if not all) late-70s blue label pressings there is a bit of high-end 'drop off' evident and a lack of depth compared with earlier Blue Notes.
