  1. Originally on Tempo TAP26 I think. A very rare one ! Just spinning Mike Westbrook 'Celebration' (Deram deep groove stereo) from 1967. Signed by John Surman.
  2. First Stitt I ever heard I think was 'The Bop Session' and 'In Walked Sonny' on Sonet. Not sure if these have ever come out on CD.
  3. Some great Stitt on that Miles Davis Manchester Free Trade Hall recording - would have loved to have been there for that gig. He seems to have recorded some good stuff over here during the 60s - also that BBC 'Tribute To Charlie Parker' video from 1964 with Howard McGhee and JJ Johnson. That one (with Walter Bishop Jr on piano I think) is unmissable ! (wonder if Valerie has seen it?)
  4. No problem ! I remember seeing those things on canoe trips up to the wilds of Algonquin and Temagami. A very eerie noise they make too.
  5. There's that prehistoric lake bird, the Loon, on one side of it. One of the typical sights of Canada. Her Maj. is on the other side !
  6. Giving the Larry Young LP set an airing. LP6 - the 'Of Love and Peace' session.
  7. Didn't realise that the 'Pendulum' had come out on Sunbeam. So that'll make two issues. Are they doing a vinyl too?
  8. And there was another one (at least in the East) around 90-91 when the loonie hit the $US 0.85-0.90 range.
  9. OK - concentrated Sonny Dallas then !
  10. Yep, that one is highly recommended for the 'Uhuru/Africa' material just for starters. Some very nice African percussion on that one, so you should like it.
  11. ME ! Good for those days when you are needing a concentrated dose of Elvin..
  12. Don't get me wrong, I love 'Symphony for Improvisors' but always thought it was easy listening free jazz! Probably because I got so used to it when I heard repeatedly Don Cherry and the quintet with Gato Barbieri play this every night at the Chat Qui Pèche club in Paris. Awesome ! Just like a Jazz 'Zelig'.
  13. Ubu, a lot more stuff has come out on Vocalion than on Universal. The 'Hum Dono' has been in the pipeline for a long time now so I'm treating it with some caution until I see a firm release date. The original story I got was that the tapes had been lost. With the exception of 'Troppo' and Norma Winstone's 'Edge of Time, all of the Argo material seems to have come out on Vocalion. 'Greek Variations' is a real nice one. I've got that one on an original vinyl, along with 'Dejeuner' and 'Symphony of Amaranths'. You could say I am a bit of a Neil Ardley nut. Wish Universal would put out the Neil Ardley 'Timewind - Mike Taylor Remembered' from about 1973 (posthumous Taylor tribute). Before his sad passing away, Neil Ardley issued this one as a private issue and one track only was put on one of the 'Impressed' compilations. It needs to get wider release.
  14. Continuing a Basie theme - 'Complete Basie Roulette Studio Recordings' LP 5. :rsmile:
  15. Off the top of my head: 'Impressed' Vols 1 and 2 Compilations Mike Tayor 'Trio' Mike Westbrook 'Celebration' Michael Garrick 'Troppo' Amancio D'Silva 'Integration' Neil Ardley 'Greek Variations' There might be others but they elude me for the moment. All of the above are rare to mega rare on vinyl. The new list is very exciting indeed. The Mike Taylor 'Pendulum' is eagerly awaited, as well as the Morrisseys (Dick, that is - not the gloomy singer). 'Storm Warning' is one that I've wanted for years. The one by the New Jazz Orchestra is a big favourite of mine and is absolutely superb ! Very rare UK Verve release when it came out on LP. I wonder what will be on the Volume 3 'Impressed'? Hopefully stuff by Ronnie Ross, the London Jazz Four, Cosmic Eye Dream Sequence and more Joe Harriott, perhaps?
  16. Just posted by Roger on 'the other board' (sorry Roger if I beat you to it but it's great news). Vol 3 of 'Impressed' is in the works from Universal UK. "Hi Roger - I hope you are well and thanks for your message. Yes, we are working on a Vol.3 which will be coming out late summer/autumn and we will be doing a batch of seven re-issues. Subject to various issues, we hope these will be - Neil Ardley - A Symphony of Amaranths New Jazz Orchestra - Le Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe Dick Morrissey - Storm Warning Dick Morrissey - Here and Now and Sounding Good Don Rendell Quintet - Spacewalk Mike Taylor 'Pendulum' Joe Harriott/Amancio D'Silva 'Hum Dono' I'll keep you posted once nearer to a confirmed release date. With regards - Kevin. __________________"
  17. For sure ! Glad I don't pay council tax there.
  18. Sadly, I think only the Pavillion would be big enough to house a Shorter gig. It was full to capacity last week for the Mingus Big Band. Poole Arts Centre is a another venue for previous memorable Shorter appearances. Wish he would come back there ! On the other hand I have relatives near Harrogate so they may get a call soon..
  19. Big for Duke's 'The Cosmic Scene'. Some fabulous Gonsalves in this one. 30th St Studio sonics - and in STEREO for the first time !
  20. And to think that this one nearly passed me by. Shocking really. Shame I missed the Millie !
  21. Miles 63-64 LPs 2 and 3, then Duke Ellington 'The Cosmic Scene' Mosaic Single, to round things off. Life is good.
  22. Ah - another Spa town, just like Harrogate. Looks nice. That's it. Wayne must be working his way through the health spas..
  23. "Posting in german for a change - no one not able to read this will be interested in buying a DVD-Rom containing the full run of Karl Kraus' "Die Fackel", anyway... The following text is taken from the zweitausendeins site: Kraus, Karl DIE FACKEL Karl Kraus: Die Fackel. Komplett auf DVD-ROM. Nur bei uns....." Hey, we want it in English ! Nah, just kidding.. Nice site Flurin !
