  1. Just got a copy of 'On Duke's Birthday' on its way to me on LP. Looking forward to it !
  2. Aha ! Battersea Power Station.
  3. Another great advert for British dentistry
  4. For sure. Looks like a Liberty ! Out- rageous..
  5. Jazz Crusaders 'The Festival Album' (Pacific Jazz - Toshiba pressing)
  6. Some nice new pictorial Blue Note T's of Grant Green, Monk, JOS and Morgan just appeared in the Ropedope store. Dig it ! :rsmile: Blue Note T's
  7. Larry Young 'Of Love And Peace' (BN NY USA mono). Great sonics !
  8. That would make a damn good Monty Python sketch.
  9. Bud Shank 'Complete Pacific Jazz Studio' LP set. LP3 - the South-African session.
  10. Hope Jimmy was given a copy of the VEE by Verve - or was the Lonehill his first CD copy? Mighty fine album.
  11. Happy Birthday - Hope it's a good one ! Those wenches do look pretty damn nice.
  12. Depends I guess on whether or not it is the first or second edition but either way I would have had the same reaction. For the first edition AU-4950 (I think Chuck said that he sold his for loadsamoney) for sure.
  13. That was my opinion too the one time I looked in there.
  14. Yep - compared to the vinyl wasteland that is London as of this year, New York looks to be still an oasis. Hope it stays that way !
  15. 'Lotus Flower' on Enja is also a favourite of mine - for the band with Steve Turre and Mulgrew Miller. That was one of the greatest lineups of the 1980s IMHO.
  16. I would recommend also the Mosaic set. Plus get hold of Larry Young's 'Unity', Tyrone Wasington's 'Natural Essence' and McCoy's 'Expansions (the latter in particular has some really nice Woody). One that doesn't get too many mentions is the quartet album 'In Your Own Sweet Way' on the In & Out label (from Germany I think). Wonderful live performance from very late in his career. Another good one is Neil Swainson's '49th Parallel' on Concord. Not sure if this one is still in print but as a bonus it also has Joe Henderson in the front line. A ringer of a session.
  17. Miles Davis 'Miles Smiles' (CBS 2-eye stereo)
  18. Same as mine. First pressing, I think.
  19. Robin Kenyatta 'Terra Nova' (Atlantic) Sounds more like a Bob Marley album !
  20. The last of the Miles 6-eyes that I was aware of are the 'Blackhawk' and 'Someday My Prince Will Come' LPs (which are also sometimes seen in later 2-eye pressings - I have the latter for example). All the later LPs were 2-eye in first pressings, to the best of my knowledge. I have the 'Miles Smiles' in a pristine 2-eye and that one is a first pressing (at least I hope it is ). Don't feel bad about buying both the originals and the Mosaic LPs. There's a strong case to be made for picking up both (not least for the alternates etc. on the Mosaics). By the way, the 2-eye stereos usually also have 'Stereo 360 Degree Sound' plastered over the top of the labels.
  21. Well said. Just a couple of sets in this list that I don't have, of the OOP ones (Millie and Spann). I'll buy from Mosaic for the in-prints.
  22. That would be a fair excuse !
