  1. As long ast they can take care of the Mosaics and change the LPs for me on the deck once in a while as I slurp my tea, I don't care..
  2. He was a bit short of breath after tunes during his last tour of the UK (especially after bursts on the tenor) but it didn't affect the music one iota. A phenomenon and a man on a mission ! Hopefully people got the chance to meet Sam. He's a very cool character.
  3. Sounds great ! They are on their first UK tour - appearing at the Bath Festival tomorrow night and some of the musicians are also giving a workshop to local young musicians prior to the concert.
  4. Is that because of the tie? Yes - Roundhay Grammar, Leeds MG No kidding ! I was born there (Leeds that is).
  5. Happy birthday to the Boardmeister !
  6. I'll be seeing Escoffery tomorrow night with the Mingus Big Band - first time I'll have seen him (and them).
  7. The Prestige 'Child's Dance' is one.
  8. Is that because of the tie?
  9. Just got hold of that one ! It's on my spin list for tomorrow..
  10. Just spinning some of that great Filmore 'tree' from Dime in the car on the way back from the coast. A fitting way to celebrate the day - whether 25th or 26th.
  11. Quincy Jones 'This Is How I Feel About Jazz' (ABC Paramount mono). With Lucky Thompson, Phil Woods etc.
  12. Nucleus 'Alley Cat' (Vertigo)
  13. Rock on !
  14. Hope to finally post my thoughts this weekend, as there is a bit of Bank Holiday time. Drawn a total blank on the identifications but enjoyed the music. You can keep the cigars locked up for me.
  15. James Carter seems to be a big fan of the Netherlands, Durium. He was on at Northsea last year and is in the lineup this time round too.
  16. Must be either Atlantic, CTI or Impulse. Or ECM?
  17. Caught that group live once and Dave Pell and the guys sounded great. Love that stuff !
  18. Thanks guys ! The Jacquet and possibly the Teagarden are still on my list then...
  19. 'Artie Shaw and his Gramercy Five - Album No. 3' (Clef DG mono). With Hank Jones and Joe Puma !
  20. By quick reconning, the only ones in this series I'm still missing are the Jacquet, Meade Lux Lewis, Teagarden, Dinah, De Franco and Bellson. I think I have all of the ones I particularly want. Are there any of the above that I should regard as 'to die for'?
  21. Would have been 81 years old today.. I'll spin some of the Blackhawk set in recognition.
  22. Jazz Crusaders 'Lighthouse 69' (King Pacific Jazz)
  23. Thanks ! $8.99 plus shipping sounds good..
  24. Whoopee ! Just grabbed me a 'Collector's Disk' from the 'bay'. Don't think I ever saw that one in the stores.
