  2. Bought 'Realization' on Capricorn from a cut-out bin back around 1975. Cost me the grand total of about £0.50 as I recall. Great album - best way to get the music now though is probably that Soul Brother compilation posted in the picture above. There are 2 volumes of Eddie Henderson available on this label (each is either a single CD or a 2LP set). Dusty Groove in the US is a good source for these Soul Brother reissues.

  4. That disk with the 'Dakar' album on it is my personal favourite.
  5. The Internet, for sure. The advances in PC technology and optical fibre communications were fairly predictable based on the trend extrapolations the Profs at Uni were putting out way back when but the ability of the internet to totally transform every aspect of society was not. Jeez, when I think that just 25 years ago I was punching a stack of paper cards to program a whole floor full of hardware in Fortran 77 to work out some daft equations 'overnight' (assuming you didn't drop the whole lot and screw up the order of the control cards ), the mind boggles as to just how far we have come !
  6. A lot of people don't like this one but personally I love it. The sound of this stereo issue is also outstanding - one of the best I have heard from the 'Liberty' period. Must be one of the last heavy vinyl Blue Notes. The cover, of course, is priceless !

  16. Here's to the Bird ! Dean Benedetti set ahoy..
  17. I know I would..
  18. On a roll... Blue Mitchell 'Bantu Village' (BN Liberty stereo) Sounds like Blue is using the varitone attachment on part of this album. First time I've noticed that. Prince Lasha/Sonny Simmons 'Firebirds' (Contemporary green label DG stereo). Audio by Bernie Grundman !
  19. Lee Morgan 'Delightful-Lee' (BN Liberty stereo) Lonnie Smith 'Move Your Hand' (BN Liberty stereo). Funky !
  20. Lonnie Smith 'Turning Point' (BN Liberty Stereo). This 'Eleanor Rigby' beats the original IMO . The LP also blows the RVG CD away !
  21. Really sorry to hear this. First Elton Dean, then in a matter of weeks, Pip Pyle. Just happened to be playing an 'In Cahoots' CD in the car only the other day and really enjoying it too. Much too young - may he rest in peace.
