I had a regular NES back in the late 80s. I thought it was a lot of fun back then, but most of those games haven't stood the test of time very well!

Looks like they carry stock from the same manufacturers, but have a better selection than allposters. Thanks for that link - I still have a little wall space in the bedroom! PS: The serigraph prints are also very, very good. I have a couple of those as well.

Maybe some day I'll tell you how this story *really* ended.

I have a hard time believing that a horsehair shoe brush could hurt a vinyl record, but I'm also not sure that it would be very effective. I think it is hard to beat water and a sponge.

I think you will be happy with their stuff. I have a giclee print of a Pollack from them that looks shockingly like the real thing (the original was on loan to the Guggenheim last year so I got to compare). I also have a Picasso giclee print in my kitchen that has been mistaken for a watercolor by a couple guests. I recall the prints being just under $200 each. I also think that the "Prints on Demand" service offered by the major local museums is generally high quality. The Neue has a lot of Klimt, so I can check their shop the next time I am in the area if you like. Too bad I didn't know you were looking for Klimt prints earlier today, as I was just at the Neue this afternoon.

I have some giclee prints of other artists from allposters.com. They are *very* high quality, but are also a pit pricey ($100 to $200). If you wait, allposters has frequent sales - sometimes as much as 33% off everything.

What live music are you going to see tonight?
J Larsen replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I was going to see Television in Central Park this afternoon, but the rain deterred me. -
Based on my experience, they will get back to you, but it will take up to a week. Then they will probably ask you to verify your shipping address, which will mean emailing them again, which will add another week. Then, if it is still available, they will ship you a replacement disc.

Interesting. I've heard those studio albums are real bummers, but the live show might be interesting.

Shipp is un-effing-believable live (esp solo), but I've had mixed results buying his cds. I wish he would just record live more often. Some interesting recommendations in the last couple days in this thread - thanks to all.

$400 is a very good price for that set these days.

was Lifetime's "Emergency!" an influence in prog/met

I have very mixed feelings about Fripp, but the suggeston that he is lacking in technical mastery of his instrument is absolutely mind boggling to me. My god. -
I agree with that. I don't think Change was a bad session, but it is not one of my favorite Hill dates. To my ears, the band just didn't gel on that one. Compulsion is a masterpiece in my book.

I'm probably the Trane fan on earth to find out about this, but just in case I'm not... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUzFbT5JT1M

I picked up the Talking Heads box - @ under $100 after tax, I couldn't resist. Also got Have Gun, Will Travel season 1 for $24.

LF: Miles Plugged Nickel box
J Larsen replied to trane_fanatic's topic in Offering and Looking For...
True. At the same time, there are tons of sets that were available for a long time that I never got because my financial situation sucked the whole time - the Kirk Mercury box, the Clifford Brown Emarcy box and countless Mosaics are all in that group. Fortunately I was able to get great prices on all the Miles boxes. -
Sonny Rollins to record at Carnegie Hall
J Larsen replied to GA Russell's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
That's good to hear. Thanks. I was basing my opinion on his recordings as a leader, which I rate very low. -

Exactly, Jan. How are you, by the way? Haven't chatted since we found out about the Wash days. Hope all is well. Thanks anyways, guys. Things are pretty good. Really busy with my job, but not as busy as I was when I was in grad school, teaching and consulting all at once. Are you still in SF? I may be back out there in a few weeks. I try to spend a few days there a year. Ran into Ying Sun a couple trips back, if you remember him. He's an attorney now. -

I was just going to link the same thing. But frankly I do think $200 (roughly two bucks to the pound) is a bit steep. -
cd storage for large collections
J Larsen replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
In my case: desire to do something with my limited free time other than a construction project, desire to not have something that looks like I made it in my living room, and lack of wall space (due to an abundance of windows) that neccesistates a pull-out drawer system like what can-am makes. OTOH, I really do think the can-am stuff is very expensive for what it is. It is nicer than comparable products, but I don't know that it is really worth so much more. -

I'll probably go to this, but I have to say I wish they had somebody else on bass. -

My thoughts exactly. -

Holdsworth doesn't do much tapping at all. Probably none in many, many years. It's all done with one hand...the connection is the legato feel. Thanks for the correction - not sure why I associated Holdsworth with tapping. Maybe I've just heard an unrepresentative sample. But he does try to minimize the effect of his picking, doesn't he? I think of him as having a very, very light touch with his right hand.
