  1. Herwig's other "latin side" dates have all been very good to great so I will have to look into this one. While I agree that Horace often leaned this way, Herwig's treatments might surprise you.
  2. I used to swap out audio components all the time. Then about 6 years ago, I stopped hearing many differences so I decided to stick with what I have. Sure, when they break, I'll replace them, but I'm done with getting the latest audio toy. FWIW, one of my biggest mistakes was moving into tubes for a while. To my ears, there was no discernable audio difference but they were very nice looking. If they weren't so damn hot, I probably would've kept them just on looks alone. But when I switched back to solid state and heard no difference, I felt like a fool for spending thousands of dollars thinking that tubes sound better.
  3. I found this to be very depressing. To read about how tough this era was is one thing but to see it acted out... ugh. This was probably happening all over the US too.
  4. Get her license plate number and the next time he rides down the sidewalk, call the police and let them know. Maybe when they knock on their door, the mother will realize the error of her approach. The law is the law and in this case, it's on your side.
  5. As Miles would say, "So What"? You think they are any better? Stephen Hahn is the current head of the FDA and "in April 2020, Hahn instructed FEMA administrator Peter Gaynor "to distribute hydroxychloroquine to pharmacies nationwide," even though the emergency use authorization (EUA) issued by the FDA did not provide for outpatient use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine was later linked to multiple deaths of COVID-19 patients, and the FDA revoked the EUA in June 2020".
  6. Wallpaper paste! That's it! It's still very strong on the booklet and poster but it's finally fading on the cover material. When I first opened it, i got a headache.
  7. It looks like an old liquor cabinet. Not my style at all - I wouldn't take this if it was free. It appears that you do not have a wife. And I have absolutely zero interest in how this sounds. Antique Lo-Fi sound at its finest is still nowhere near as good as a modern basic digital set-up.
  8. Weird question but I have to ask... have any of you who received the EU version noticed a strange chemical odor when you opened this CD? I only ask because I have had this open for a few weeks now and it still reeks.
  9. RIP to a great musician. I only have a few records of his but I'll have to pick up a copy of "Horizons". That looks like an interesting session.
  10. That cover gives me the creeps. It's like the Davey & Goliath version of what Albert Ayler might have looked like.
  11. With the odd history of this record, you almost have to ask: which version did you get?
  12. I am finally spinning this Tone Poet LP and I think I get a feeling for why this was shelved. The first track, "Mirrors", has a very odd-sounding stereo sound. Basically it's two extremely separated mono channels, with vibes, piano, bass and drums in the right channel and Joe Henderson's tenor isolated in the left channel. The sound is wonderful but it sounds weird. The second track, "For Duke P.", in contrast, sounds much more "normal".
  13. Reading about Larry's phone call with Crouch has me wondering if he was like one of my old high school buddies who would say crazy things just to start an argument. I remember one time, he walked into a group of women at a party at Smith College, a very very liberal school, and said, "I don't understand why they are trying to stop the baby seal hunt". For several hours after that, he engaged in a heated debate with an ever-growing circle of enraged young women, all of whom wanted to kill him. When we left that party, he laughed for about a half hour. Another time, there was a couple ringing doorbells advocating as Jehovah's Witnesses. He started asking them all kinds of questions about their beliefs. He kept them standing on his front doorstep for almost 2 hours. And when he closed the door and returned to watching TV with us, you would think he just went to a comedy club. He thought what he just did was the funniest thing ever.

  16. How did they figure out the band members for that first LP?
  17. Is this the same band as the other Brasilieros release:
  18. He says it has RVG & the ear (indicating Plastylite). It looks old enough... did someone counterfeit deadwax inscriptions back then?
  19. Download and run Crystal Disc Info, a free program that will assess the health of your hard drives. If it's dead, this will not resurrect it.
  20. What are you talking about? COVID-19 "ground business to a near halt", at least if you had smart local leaders, be it mayors or governors. If a few businesses close permanently as a result, that's bad, but it's much better than a few hundred thousand more deaths, isn't it?
  21. Mine came in today too, much sooner than they said it would.
  22. How many covers does this date have??
  23. My daughter's always like Miles' "So What" as well, but it may have been because I used to sing "So what" with the opening riff. My youngest really liked Herbie's "Chameleon" from "Head Hunters".
