  1. $39K? Pshaw! Try $1.2 Million on undocumented expenditures: https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2019/12/23/best-stories-of-the-decade-how-donald-trump-shifted-kids-cancer-charity-money-into-his-business/?sh=33a6deec4779 White & rich gets a slap on the wrist. Black & poor gets thrown in jail.
  2. That is a very nice CD. I haven't played it in a while. Maybe it's time to pull it out again?
  3. Many years ago, Mosaic posted the uncropped photo from this cover and I saved it. My favorite Jazz recording...
  4. Probably burned up in that fire.
  5. Gerry Mulligan - LP2 of The Emarcy Sextet Recordings (Mosaic). This LP was originally released as "Mainstream of Jazz" (Emarcy MG 36101). I haven't spin this much since I bought it many years ago. I pretty much bought this by accident as the LP I thought was included here, "Butterfly With Hiccups" (actually on Limelight), was nowhere to be seen. Good accident on my part. Edited to put in a much better image of the "cover" (man, were these LP set covers boring).
  6. Those raves over there are why I bought it. I should have held off. Truth be told, I only bought it because Udiscovermusic.com had a 40% sale late last year. I ended up getting it for around $20. I wasn't even expecting to get it at all because that website's hit rate has been abysmal. Now playing... Blue Mitchell - Step Lightly (Blue Note). I have the LT LP, not that overpriced LP from the fishing box with the scarf. I can't believe what these LT LPs are going for these days.
  7. Curtis Amy - Katanga! (Blue Note). The new Tone Poet version. Maybe I'm having a bad day, but I don't think this sounds any better than the CD versions (Connoisseur CD & Mosaic Select CD) I already have. I'm kinda wishing I'd saved my money for something else.
  8. Told ya... they weren't rich and they weren't white = Jail time.
  9. I have had several of these prints in my cart but i just couldn't pull the trigger. I have tons of autographed photos that I don't have the wall space for so I really don't have the wall space for any of these. I really wanted the one with Coltrane, Griffin & Mobley, even if it was a bit ruined by a cloud of cigarette smoke.
  10. I imagine that Blue Note (currently Universal Music) is buying these photographs. They have been licensing them for use in their Tone Poet LPs and by buying them outright, they avoid those fees. In the long run, it probably works out.
  11. Didn't Phil Woods make a bunch of money guesting on pop tunes like Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are"?
  12. Yeah, Gorelick only got 20 seconds but at least he got paid to play himself in the video. G's solo is at 3:55 and they even make fun of his sax playing if you watch it to the end.
  13. I had tickets to see Ambrose Akinmusire at Jimmy's Jazz Club in Portsmouth next Friday. Today, they sent an e-mail notifying me it's been moved to September 16th. I also have tickets to see Kenny Barron at the club in February. I wonder if that one will happen?
  14. Almost $60 to my door... I think I'll pass this time. I really have too much music at this point. I haven't spun Tone Poet records I bought last September.
  15. Ordered a used LP from discogs today. I'm seriously thinking about ordering this CD today too... anyone want to talk me out of it?
  16. I started bidding on a Nick Brignola LP but I bowed out way before the end. I had never heard of it so I wanted it for the LP/music, not the autograph on the back. It went for about triple what it was worth so I guess I'll head over to discogs and pick it up there.
  17. I was able to get Andrew Hill to sign my LP of "Judgement!" after a show at Birdland, so I wasn't looking at that one. I saw Wayne Shorter live many times but it was always in a large venue where there was no opportunity to get him to sign anything. The same goes for Herbie Hancock & Sonny Rollins. I was never able to interact with any of these Jazz greats when they played at the Berklee Performance Center. The local clubs, sure, but not there.
  18. Yes! Wild huh? Clearly the buyers are not buying these for the record. Those DMM pressings kinds suck. I actually have both of those LPs with small b labels and VAN GELDER in the deadwax, so I only wanted one to put on my wall.
  19. If you buy that LP for Shorter's autograph (and why else would anyone pay so much for it?), you are not going to attempt to peel that sticker. Sure, it might peel off clean, but it is more likely to tear off the top layer of the cover. Even if it peeled off clean, the sticker outline would likely still be there and there may be a sticky residue. I'd just leave it on there if I had won that auction. BTW - aren't peeled Beatles "butcher" covers worth less than unpeeled ones? I could have sworn I read that once...
  20. This went for $385. Way more than I thought and much more than I was willing to pay. Certainly too much with that sticker on there. Even crazier is the autographed DMM LP of "Adam's Apple" that went for $771! Ouch. Just because there was no sticker??
  21. 4 out of 6 of my nieces/nephews have or are getting over COVID.
  22. TMZ is reporting that actor and comedian Bob Saget has died. While most will likely remember him for his role as the father in Full House, I will remember seeing him as a stand up comedian. A really raunchy and hilarious stand up comic. https://www.tmz.com/2022/01/09/bob-saget-dead-dies-hotel-comedian-full-house/
  23. I cannot find these CDs or files anywhere on the web. I never even knew they or the label existed.
  24. I have nearly all of this material on the 3 Analogue Productions SACDs that they put out in 2003. I think it's missing one track ("Donna Lee") and 4 alternate takes. They also sound very nice.
