  1. Keith Jarret, and, er, Chet Baker!
  2. So, how many CDs will this be?
  3. I would really like to see this little muther on CD!
  4. So, how does the 13 th bonus disk sound like? is it worth going the expensive import rout to obtain it? ( Not that I am interested in buying either of course! )
  5. Yep, Hiroshi gets a BIG from me. I get all my Japanese imports from him and they never take more than a week to arrive!
  6. I agree with all of you. I look forward more and more to each new batch. To me the advantage is that unlike with the RVGs I am not having to upgrade since in many cases I never got round to buying the older versions! My only complaint is that for me several titles remain of marginal interest (Peanuts? Vince Guaraldi) and I would really like them to toss in the odd left field choice( relativly speaking ) Booker Ervin, Griffin or Joe Hendersson frinstance! They could easily double the rate of releases and i would be one happy camper. Oh and drop the price a tad.
  7. I am now on the second volume of the Silver and it is, ahum, a bit ripe! Interesting comments about Easterly, perhaps I will have to get a copy after all...
  8. I am playing Now at the moment, and I am begining to think that this is the most consistently engrossing batch of Cons for a long while. Got them all except Easterly Winds ( I have the TOCJ) and I like them all even the Horace which I had been apprehensive about-perhaps I am going soft in my old age!
  9. To Veedon Fleece. I used to like Van a lot but then I went off most of it and dumped it.most, but not all, I kept what I consider to be his masterpiece, St Dominics Preview. I was there at the Rainbow when Too Late to Now was recorded, a memorable evening or two..
  10. I picked mine up from a bricks and morter in Helsingborg yesterday. So far havnt been able to listen to it ( I also got the latest Cons) but I agree that it seems to have the nicest packaging of the whole series, even Wifey thought it beautiful, though I had buttered her up with a Lila Downs record, Im sneaky that way!
  11. Nice post Amir. I have only read the Parrish book and it disturbed me so much that I began questioning my first love, which is why we have had this exchange of opinions. Thanks for your memories of Cape Cod, reminds of the first Wembly show in 72, Just like Sebastion wrote in his song Do you believe in magic, back then I really did. I caught several shows on that tour. But next time was Alexander Palace, we were there for all 3 nights and they were just so damned lethagic, they never caught fire, and suddenly all the excuses we had made for the deteriorating quality of the various studio albums and off shoot projects ,all the hopes for next time... I guess the end of innocence! It was THAT painful! I have never heard JG Band live, I look forward to an appropriate recomendation from you when they get round to releasing a definitive concert.
  12. Good thread, welcome and stick around. Just a reminder that now the Avenue/Rhino program has long gone belly up that these Bethlehem albums should still be available in Japan under the Toshiba monika.
  13. Clem, dope? Bertrand, no thats the one with Miles and Wayne
  14. Thanks for all these initial suggestions. I am at work a lot these next few days, so I will collate these results in a few days and see where my next wages of wage slavery will be going to!
  15. OK, so my first 2 Mother Earth albums arrived very toot sweet from Wounded Bird. I do not know much of the music in their catalogue, so , is there anything there I should pick up? MJQ? Herbie Mann?Maynard Fergusson? anything else?
  16. UM, Clem, whats a DUD DP?
  17. Yep, I wont be picking up this box, Ill pick up Wake and Allah when they are individually released. I have also been put off by the seeming merchandising overkill: Box, box with extra cd, film , film plus tee shirt, film plus t shirt plus soundtrack, allof above, sheesh, they could have at least put out the box with alternative coloured covers!
  18. Jazzbo, I also think that Wake is a fine record, but for me it didnt have the cohesiveness, the inner tension of some of the earlier albums. (and ,yes, I do include Aoxomxoa in that assesment.) You mention Ace, I much prefer Harts Rolling Thunder, a fantastic record which is often overlooked.
  19. I still think they made several peerless studio albums (caveat emptor, I know that much of Anthem was recorded live.) Anthem, Aoxomoxoa,Workin mans and ,perhaps ,American Beauty arer still, for me major albums. And as a teenager in London, apart from Live Dead, was all we had to base our judgements on till Skull Fuck and the major tour in 72. I dont count the Hollywood festival in Newcastle because so few of us knew about it. Of course about this time everything began to change, I can still remember the time I got hold of my first Trademark of Quality boots, and then the damn burst...........
  20. couw, I stand corrected! ( the shame of it.)
  21. Ik heb`t gezegd Mertz por favor.
  22. impossible-I suppose i must confront the uncomfortable possibility that I married the wrong woman! Just kidding honey, honest.....
