  1. Hmmm, this is the Select which made least impression on me when it arrived, played through it a couple of times ( I had never heard any of the material before) and then it drifted into the heap of other new stuff and eventualy it got filed away, this thread has got me curious again, tis for tonights playlist! Thanks for whetting my appetite!
  2. Thanks Jazzbo One for the wants list.
  3. Jazzbo, I would be interested in more info about the Baby Huey, I have been eying that one up along with the Patty Waters...

Che, Depends, do you find that Hegel helps to illuminate and increase the relvance and enjoyment of Jazz? Do Adornos writings make Jazz more or less interesting? In a recent Jazz Review interview he does say that people tend to take his comments too seriously, an understandable error I would say having read his earnest contributions! And he rubbishes Zorns Radical Jewish Music imprint. Must say however that I have enjoyed what I have heard of him so far,(Tho not yet sure if he is the cats pyjamas...)
  6. I got Behind the 8 Ball and Mo Rock from Hiroshi at Early records last year.
  7. Z man, Let me know if you still need this and I can help you out, best tho is if someone Stateside can help.....
  8. .....or before I die!
  9. Try to keep off at work, but I check in in the morning before leaving home and then a couple of times in the evening, weekends much more!
  10. Brads advice seems like your best bet, I was able to get a stack of Bethlehems from Hiroshi about 6 months ago.

As far as I can understand its the first ESP we are talking about, the website says unreleased , so hopefully not just(!)an alternate...

    Marion Brown

The new ESP website notes that they will shortly rerelease a remastered first album with a previously unreleased 18 (!) minute track.
  13. Had both the Don Cherry Sonets on a twofer some time back but since I let them go pretty quickly I must assume I didnt find them too earth shaking. The Live in Ankara looked appealing but i think I found it appall ing!
  14. oooops, just dug up the Abraxus version of a Marion Brown Quartet and there on the goofy horizontal obi thing is a picture of the college tour cd, so that at least was issued in Italy. And hey, whats the recent Water cd like?
  15. The german reissues put out by zyx deffinitely had the first Patty Waters album. Not sure about Calibre in the Netherlands, I think not. And then there are the 2 Italian programmes, Get Back on vinyl and Abraxus on cd. Forced Exposure used to list the latter programme....Hope that helps.
  16. Pony Canyon put the Time albums out as late as last year. I am sure there is a thread about that reissue progamme somewhere, I know I was excited about the prospect of finally getting hold of these records.
  17. Another dream come true....I love this series, good price too.
  18. 98?, Andrew Hill and Sam Rivers, then I missed the Larry Young and Jackie. but I got them from Crazy Jazz in England, took me a long while till I started buying direct.
  19. Mines a Grasslands mask from Camaroon which I am happy to own!

Just noticed on the Wounded Bird website that they have releasedTears Of Joy and Connection! Where do these fit in the general scheme of things?
  21. Can we have a red or black flag on the first of May for us Atheists?
  22. Me too, pity the missus is looking over my shoulder....
  23. I am playing the hell out of the latest Khaled album which i bought as a sweetener for the missus when I came home last week with 15 K2s!!! Fact is I played all the K2s once and the Khaled at least 10 times! Otherwise Fado and Leila Downs are on heavy rotation chez nous.
  24. Sad. I have nice memories of Siren and liked the Marjorey album. I will play the single of Marlene from that album(the first record on Virgin?) and review my several memories of seeing him live through the years.
  25. Mike, I think Steig would fit in real nice-look what else rock and left field they have in their catalogue,Holy Model Rounders, Pearls Before Swine, Fahey, Patty Waters, they are seriously nuts and they probably are the only current label where I would like to obtain everything they put out!-So by all means Steig-and, my vote, both Kenny Cox! Many years ago I had a Reprise album Jeremy Steig and the Satyrs. And still have a flyer from the Avalon ballroom where they headline over the Sons of Champlin and the Fourth Way... cant stand the recent CTI Steig reissue though.
