  6. I took his comment as tongue in cheek. On the other hand, I don't think that Tim Duncan was one of SS 1's favorites.
  7. (Somewhat) New technology, but the s.o.s.
  8. Robert Pete Williams: Louisiana Blues (Takoma)
  9. Might be this guy:
  10. Better than "ok". Duncan ranks fifth in career blocked shots (3,020), sixth in rebounds (15,091), seventh in games played (1,392) and 14th in points (26,496). And his teams won five titles. LeBron has a couple more to go to catch up.
  11. Otis Spann: The Blues Is Where It's At My favorite Otis Spann after the Candid sessions. Probably his best with a band - in this case a great one - Muddy''s.
  12. The second Ampex model 5258 8-track 3 was sold to Atlantic Records at Tom Dowd's insistence in early 1958.[6] Atlantic was the first record company to use a multi-track recorder in their studio. That sure didn't help their jazz recordings much. Other engineers and companies did a lot more with less.
  13. "King Oliver in Savannah" from Jeff Crompton's EP The music captures the mood of the short narrative in Jeff's liner note perfectly.
  14. There aren't many recordings I'm interested in picking up these days - my collecting has wound down and I'm getting to know my collection better - but this is definitely one that I do want to get.

    Ed Lewis

Good story - though not good news that he was working as a restroom attendant. Ed Lewis is listed in The Encyclopedia of Jazz and on Wikipedia as having passed away in 1985, so perhaps your remembrance is from an earlier year. I know from experience that, as years go by, it's easy to mix up the dates when things occurred.

  18. A tip of the hat to GA Russell for keeping us up to date on all of the birthday goings on.
