  1. Glad to see that some $ came your way too.
  2. Whew, Bill! My ears would be tired.
  3. Good to read that the royalties came to much more than a few hundred dollars.
  4. Just checked the few Speakers Corners in my collection and got the same results. What the Captain found is probably not a Speakers Corner issue. Doesn't mean that's a bad thing.
  5. Hank Mobley: Thinking of Home
  6. Jimmy Knepper Quintet: Dream Dancing Jimmy Knepper sure could get a beautiful sound out of all that metal.
  7. Bud Powell Blue Notes - the Bud! session
  8. Thanks for posting that, Dan. "I think the best thing you can teach a person is how to learn," he says. "And once they discover their own individual approach to that - which is inside all of us - then all of a sudden they've opened up a door of endless resources."
  9. Joe?
  10. Happy Birthday wishes to you!
  11. Ben Webster: Atmosphere for Lovers and Thieves (Black Lion/Carrere)
  12. When I first looked at the title of this thread, I thought it was about the Proper record label. Was going to post: There ain't nothing proper about Proper. Glad it's about what it's about, instead.
  13. Welcome. Don't worry about how things started for you here. It's how things go from there that's important. As far as I'm concerned, someone who's reading George Lewis' book is someone whose posts are probably worth checking out.
  14. Anyone heard this one http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7465475 ? A boot, no doubt. Too bad - looks interesting.
  15. Lakers went 7-2 on their nine game road trip. Never thought that was gonna happen. 'Course I never thought they'd get Gasol without giving up much, either.
  16. Back in the 60's, I had the opinion that he started out as an interesting trumpeter who became a showman. Seeing this, I see that he became an even better showman than I had thought.
  17. Another good memory. Sad ending http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...750C0A9679C8B63
  18. Cool photo! The Pistons will definitely be in it, but it's a long season and time will tell. I'm a long time Laker fan, but I remember watching the Pistons back in the 50's when George Yardley was scoring like a maniac. Yard was the man in his day. One helluva a player. I can still remember when Pistons were the Fort Wayne Pistons....... dead giveaway on my age too. Showing my age too! I remember when they were in Fort Wayne, right around the time I started following basketball. I remember the Rochester Royals with Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes (great player with a tragic end to his career) back then too.

  20. He may be more like the granddaddy these days. We shall see.
  21. As John McEnroe used to say "you can't be serious". And yes, I did watch the video as I had never heard of Paramore or Hayley Williams. BTW - skank is a little harsh, I think she (Winehouse) looks more like a modern day Ronnette. Who knows - maybe she'll hook up with Phil Spector?
  22. You may be right, but it's a lot harder to get into shape at age 36 with all that beating his body has taken over the years. We'll have to wait and see.
  23. A very happy birthday to you, sir!
  24. Wasn't on yesterday, so - Best Belated Birthday Wishes, Michael!
  25. AEC, Roscoe, Hal Russell, & Lester B. Nessa got there first
