  1. Thanks. I haven't seen it either and I thought it was still AWOL from cd. I've got the vinyl too, bought shortly after release. . . it's WORN happily!
  2. Maybe it isn't three or four minutes, but you'd have to shorten or delete a track to make them both fit, and I wouldn't even want to consider that!
  3. Yes, I was leaving that out . . . may be a plus, may not be. I feel differently about film than you do Clem, I do enjoy a lot of films just for their pure escapist value, try working for the state of Texas forty-five hours a week or so for a couple decades, you need lots of escape. There are a few films that have made me think, but they're few and far between Dr. Rat, but then I don't make that a requirement. A Scanner Darkly is a chilling book to read and digest. The movie is not likely to be near that level. But I'll be seeing it.
  4. Unfortunately, the two Cox lps won't fit on one cd. More than just a few seconds more like three or four minutes I believe. I don't have them at hand right now, but I remember transferring them from tape at one point and it wasn't even close to fitting. . .
  5. She was so gorgeous around that time!
  6. Jeff, I'm totally with you. First someone should write the novel. Don't think I haven't thought about it; if you turned my house upside down you might even find pages of a project I called as a working title. . . "The Black Iron Prison". . ..
  7. Haven't seen any of his films. . . overheard him talking to someone once and sort of pegged him for a jerk. . . well we'll see. I'm not sure that PKD left me dazed and confused in a . .. "good way" . . . not a good way at least for dealing with present reality comfortably!
  8. Dan, congrats, I was hoping you would gnab this for cheap. Seems as if it were destined to happen (okay, every now and then I feel a little Calvinist).
  9. We're about a year away from a new Philip K. Dick movie. . . A Scanner Darkly. That would be good news if it didn't include . . . Keanu Reeves as the star. Fork. Richard Linklater directing, also Wynona and Woody Harrelson and Morton Downey Jr.
  10. No no, light funk:
  11. Has this one (they actually do "tunes" --more like themes and turnaround phrases!-- from the MD group) made it to cd? I'd like to have it on cd! Lookout Farm, ECM
  12. No, he's dark funk, isn't he?

    Martial Solal

    M. Lunky, my apologies, yes Dreyfus not Storyville That looks like a good one Marty!
  14. many more many more many more
  15. I have had "Yo Miles" since its release and enjoy it. . .but I admit like Guy I feel it lacks something and I miss the something. I'll have to try one of the other two soon. One early emulation of this sound (sort of) was a Dave Liebman ECM, "Lookout Farm," quite a successful effort in my opinion.

    Martial Solal

The Solal sides HAVE been reissued; I haven't heard the reissues, the lp is a marvelous session. I really like Solal; I really can't listen to him for very long, he's so challenging! I agree these are all excellent choices, excellent releases. I also like the recent Blue Note cd and the Storyville large ensemble Ellington.
  17. Holy Cow. . . . I know I'll get this eventually.
  18. I'm so glad I have the cd set! B-) This was another great Mosaic rescue mission.

    Mr. 5 x 5

The Vanguards, the Columbias, the Master Jazz, the Impulses, there just is not bad Rushing (though I haven't heard the RCA). And the Decca Basies, and. . . . Well we're blessed with so much great stuff. It's such a distinctive voice he had. "Rheinhardt, Rheinhardt. . . " B-)
  20. I say what Buzzy Linhart would say. . . . I got's to have friends. Thanks for being my friends!
  21. Eric, nicely put. You provacateur you!
  22. It's quite true, some people are spending too much time here. I may be the bulk of the some (sum) peoples myself! Though I do spend LESS time here I admit it is hard to tell. ONE poster who has left and is very missed is Hans (J. A. W.)

    Mr. 5 x 5

Anytime he sings that song it's a wonder. . . just the way he says the words. . . he was a master. I laugh right now thinking of those "Soundies" of him in love with that sweet little gal and in the dancing contest, etc.
  24. Although I have a feeling it's going to be "Boney Maroney" after listening to Harold's cdr "45s #4"!
  25. Today it was "I Thought About You"
