  1. Alright! I wish they had "East Coasting."
  2. I think it's a middle-aged thing. I didn't feel removed from the characters, or that the plot was disjointed in any real way. This resonated with me now than it certainly would have twenty years ago!
  3. Red Trumpet may well have it on hand: http://www.redtrumpet.com/software/item.ph...&sid=1213764969

    RAY CHARLES BABY!
  5. Walmart can still be a good source for popular cds. Dusty Groove is good too, and Amazon. . . . Or so I've heard. . .

    F'in' Marshall Allen.
  7. Well, I have at least half these! Can I just cut down on my posting by 50%?

    Overlooked Altos

    And Dave Schildkraut
  9. I kindof am mad at this lp/cd. . . ever since it first came out my brother Lester has been calling himself "The Nightfly." At least he's never realized he could call himself "Pres"!
  10. I used Media Mail too, and the covered wagons are moving very slowly this holiday season. . . . I should point out what I meant to say was I got my SECOND order but not my first yet; I ordered the second a day or so after the first!
  11. I certainly don't think Macero is a "bozo!"
  12. I got the SECOND one a few days ago. .. .

No arguments. How about Derek Humble. FANTASTIC! Charles Tyler!
  14. Okay, I know all about the stigma that the alto has for some. A lot of alto players don't get talked about much, some deservedly so. Here's a guy that should be talked about though: T. K. Blue, or Talib Kibwe if you will. Long a musical director/frontliner for Randy Weston, and also a leader in his own right. The man can PLAY!
  15. I'm considering going to see Branford here in town next month. . . I have a feeling he'll play this (?)
  16. Been listening to the "Nuits de Saint-Germain-des-Pres" Django item in the series. If only Django had lived on into the following decades! There are elements in his playing here that I think would have really blossomed and maybe paved a different path for the guitar. He seemed to be really moving towards an exploration of the sound of the electric guitar in his own way. . . .
  17. Just got that "Melody" Flurin; going to have to listen to it soon!
  18. Wow, my wallet has finally been found!
  19. Knepper is a big favorite. I love that Mingus band with Shaw, Knepper and Hadi in the front line. FANTASTIC!
  20. I like that stuff a lot too, but in some senses I think of it as "The Big Warm Up"!
  21. Looks just like me too, thanks again Chris! Look for my new book this fall, "When You Left Me I Married My Dog: Southern Culture as Seen through Country Songs."
  22. This is a lot more than just making fun of Jaques BUT you'll enjoy it I'd wager! Really a fun experience!
  23. Anyone else really enjoy this movie? I thought it was just a wonderful film, thoroughly modern, thoroughly entertaining, with just the right amount of shallow end of the pool depth. . . . Mature Murray doing it so well and so on target once again!
