Haven’t enjoyed this cd in a while. I was thinking of my late first wife Helen, and that led me to think of listening to Helen Merrill, and I saw this one, which was sitting neglected on a shelf a long time. That's sort of my impression from others. . . but I was living in Africa from '66 to '72 and then in rural Ohio from '72 to '80 and no jazz LPs of any kind were everywhere. I had to travel 30 to 45 minutes to record stores with limited jazz inventory. . .and I did, and bought a lot of good LPs, but few Pablos. Those were cd purchases for me in the days when OJC was a great choice nearly everywhere.

I don't remember any Pablo LP really being a "hit" in their time.

Understood. I like having this box set with all the mastering by one engineer--before that I had a variety of American and Japanese series and really no two discs had the same mastering style. But I'm not averse to having duplicates or buying things again and again--I trained myself carefully over the years! And books, recordings, stereo equipment and instruments became my only real mad money vices some thirty years ago.

They both sound good Daniel. The Mosaic version sounds a bit "flatter." The UCCQ sounds a bit more "lively."
