  1. Looks great. . . with Immanuel Wilkins, Johnathan Blake and Steve Nelson it is likely to be quite a release.
  2. Wes Montgomery “The Complete Full House Recordings” Concord 2 cd set, disc 2
  3. A quite neat collection of Mingus compositions, nicely arranged and performed, from Finland. Tonight at Noon “To Mingus with Love” Prophone cd Alto Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone – Mikko Innanen Drums – Andre Sumelius Organ – Mikko Helevä Tenor Saxophone – Jussi Kannaste Trumpet – Jukka Eskola
  4. Another great new release, a reissue of Jessica Williams “Orgonomic Music” on Modern Harmonic cd.
  5. Fantastic new release on Impulse! Alice Coltrane “The Carnegie Hall Concert” Impulse 2 cd set, disc 1 600×600 40 KB
  6. I got in the Shaw and Tyner discs today (AND two volumes of the Sanders with Hicks) and listened to the Shaw and the sound seems mono but not bad altogether, everyone is audible, and there's dynamics.
  7. “Vim and Vigor Live 1985” Woody Shaw - Joe Farrell Quintet
  8. I have three cds by this lovely lady with a lovely voice (who sounds a lot like a friend I love). This one is perhaps her “poppiest” but any “pop” record that can feature cuica is fine by me. 696×423 26.9 KB 600×600 27.3 KB Followed by Kenny Burrell “The Road to Love” High Note cd
  9. Jazz is Dead 5, Doug Carn
  10. Lee Morgan “Infinity” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  11. John Beasley “Cauldron”
  12. Charles Mingus “Tijuana Table Dance” RCA Victor/Sony Blu-Spec CD2, disc 1 600×529 38.5 KB Followed by “Primal Blue” 600×605 219 KB
  13. I have those. I'm also fond of his Blanton/Webster and Porgy and Bess cds. And "Blue Skylight," his Mingus and Mulligan one, is excellent.
  14. JACKIE & ROY “The Beautiful Sea: Songs of Sun, Sand & Sea” Followed by “Duke Ellington in Sweden 1973” Caprice Records cd He loved her madly.
  15. Duke Ellington “Jazz at the Plaza Vol. 2” Columbia LP
  16. Yes, EMI used to have a large share of Mosaic. I think WEA is still in the works along with Universal and Sony, but I'm no expert.
  17. Jackie McLean “Demon’s Dance” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  18. Woody Herman with Erroll Garner, “Music for Tired Lovers” Columbia/Document cd I know many don’t, but I really like Woody Herman vocals, and Erroll accompanies him very well here (with hardly present bass and drums). [IMG]600×596 119 KB
  19. Last night I snuck in a Tom Harrell cd in my continuing revisit of his work. Tom Harrell “Time of the Sun” High Note cd Followed by, this morning to chase off the chill: The Mark Masters Ensemble “The Clifford Brown Project”
  20. I spent some time over this weekend to reconfigure my LP playback. Rather than sending the output from my phono preamp in DSD format to my DAC, I am using the balanced analog output of the phono preamp into a ZBIT and from there single-eneded out to the second input of the SEWE300B. This means I no longer have remote volume or balance control, nor does the path go through a ZROCK2 into the SEWE300B. Overall really good sound–just lacking a little bit of “oomph” to lower midrange and bass that a ZROCK2 would provide. (I have a ZROCK3 on order to remedy this situation). Listened to one of my favorite LPs bought in the mid-seventies, Flora Purim “500 Miles High–Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival.” Wow. I love this music, this recording, and the history I have with it. Now listening to Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Vol. 10, “Another Self Portrait” LP 1. Sounds quite good. . . just wish it has a bit more bass. 700×707 142 KB
  21. MIles Davis “Someday My Prince will Come” Sony Blu-Spec CD2, stereo version 1000×1000 164 KB I have a handful of versions of this great album, and they all sound great. This Blu-Spec CD2 from last year is sounding great this morning.
  22. I forgot how good this one is! With Thad Jones and Booker Ervin. Lambert, Hendricks and Bavan “Havin’ a Ball at the Village Gate” cd
  23. Starting off a “cold again darn it” morning with some smooth funk from a re-emergent 'seventies organist. A nice come back! Ronnie Foster “Reboot” Blue Note cd
