  1. The two alternates that appeared on "Mode for Joe" SHM-CD 2015 from Japan are on the Henderson box set. These are correctly not marked "previously unreleased." https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UCCQ-5120
  2. I think you'll be able to figure what you're missing by comparing on discogs. I myself am very happy to have it all. The LP box set sounds really good to me. I'd love to see a Mosaic as well. Not sure what the chances are of one materializing.
  3. There's more than those 4 LPs. https://www.discogs.com/release/9865973-Duke-Ellington-The-Complete-Duke-Ellington-1947-1952 (includes "Masterpieces by Ellington" which is not included in the 6 LP box set below) https://www.discogs.com/release/6270534-Duke-Ellington-1947-1952-Recorded-Works-In-Chronological-Order
  4. I have the complete output of this time period in a French CBS LP box set, as well as separate CBS cds, and Chronogical Classics cds, and most of it on Columbia 2 LP sets. I love this period--it has so much great music in a variety of styles!
  5. The Mosaic page for the Henderson says this: "On five CDs, you’ll find 47 tunes including 3 previously unissued on either LP or CD." Details on the discographic page: https://www.mosaicrecords.com/product/joe-henderson-blue-note-sessions/ The Mosaic page for the Hutcherson says this: "Our set features 76 recordings on seven CDs, and includes 1 previously unissued tune, 7 previously unissued alternate takes." Details on the discographic page: https://www.mosaicrecords.com/product/bobby-hutcherson-limited-edition-set/ I don't believe there are any previously unissued on the Hubbard set. I don't believe any of these tracks can be downloaded.
  6. Claudia Acuna “Turning Pages” I cherish this disc, personally inscribed to me by Ms Acuna.
  7. Todd Bishop Group “Little Played Little Bird–the Music of Ornette Coleman” Origin cd RICHARD COLE - bass clarinet, baritone, tenor and soprano saxophone TIM WILLCOX - tenor and soprano saxophone WEBER IAGO - piano and Wurlitzer BILL ATHENS - bass TODD BISHOP - drums
  8. Hristo Vitchev Quintet “The Perperikon Suite” First Orbit Sounds Music cd Hristo Vitchev, guitar, vibraphonist Christian Tamburr, pianist Weber Iago, bassist Dan Robbins and drummer Joe DeRose
  9. Lee Morgan “The Rumproller” Blue Noe Japan 24 bit by RVG lp facsimile cd
  10. Cold this morning, but it’s going to be a beautiful day for a solemn holiday. Easing into the day with a beautiful disc. The system is giving me a lush listen. Eliane Elias “Love Stories” Concord cd
  11. A fantastic album i've enjoyed more than five decades. Garcia's involvement is under dispute, but seems quite extensive really, details are here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrealistic_Pillow
  12. Jefferson Airplane “Somebody to Love” Culture Factory cd
  13. Airto “Free” CTI/Columbia cd
  14. Archie Shepp photographed by Val Wilmer
  15. Downright cold (that damp cold) morning. Starting off late with a great trio recording. . . . Danilo Perez “Panamonk” impulse cd I can’t believe how great the system has sounded lately. It’s been a real solace.
  16. Pepper Adams “Urban Dreams” Palo Alto cd Pepper Adams – baritone saxophone Jimmy Rowles – piano George Mraz – bass Billy Hart – drums
  17. Kenny Burrell “Heritage” Voss Records cd Yet another great Burrell record. Recorded May 27, 28, 1980 at Ocean Way Studios, Hollywood, California.
  18. I'm enjoying the cool but it has been cooler than usual this week. Yesterday was just rain all day, hopefully that system has passed. Started off with some comparative listening to Miles Davis "ESP" digital releases. Started off wtih the most recent Blu-Spec CD2 release which seems the Wilder remix, then listened to portions of the earlier Blu-Spec CD2 which is of a Japanese release and closer to the OG if not the original. I prefered that--the stage is a bit more forward, usually not my preference, but the imaging and body of the imaging was more satisfying. Now lisening to the Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD and relaxing into it's sound.
  19. Michael Cosmic/Phill Musra Group/World’s Experience Orchestra “Peace In The World/Creator Spaces/The Prayer” Now Again 3 cd set, disc 1 Cosmic is right. Years ago I sent a copy of this set to a friend who I thought would really dig it. Well, his response is “you have got to be kidding me.” I dig it though, a lot.
  20. Watched the finale of The Voice. The winner, Adam David, was a surprise. Here's a middle-aged white bar band front person with decades of experience and real discipline. . . I figured he didn't have a chance of winning. But he did.
  21. Teri Thornton “I’ll Be Easy To Find” “I’ll be Easy to Find” is a great album by Ms Thornton on Verve, I have the cd, but i’m actually listening to a cdr of two that I have that are from rehearsals for the album courtesy of a friend of the producer. The former band musician in me likes to hear bands working out material. . . and these pros are doing a great job of mastering these tunes.
  22. Dexter Gordon “The Complete Trio & Quartet Studio Recordings 1974 1975 1976” disc 3
  23. “Brittany Howard Live from Austin City Limits” LP
  24. Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges “Back to Back” Verve Master Editon cd
  25. Starting off a cool rainy morning with a classic I haven’t played for some time. John Coltrane “A Love Supreme” Impulse Japan SHM-SACD lp facsimile cd. This particular edition sounds amazing.
