  1. “Harry Connick, Jr. 20” Columbia cd
  2. The day is starting off even a little cooler than yesterday, but it should be about as warm as yesterday, but sunnier. That sun will be welcome! Popped in another volume in this excellent songbook series from Lumiar Records. “Songbook Vinicius De Moraes Vol. 3”
  3. I like a LOT of the Marsalis family recordings. They're jazz.
  4. “Songbook Vinicius de Moraes, Volume 1”
  5. Billie Holiday “Volume 15: 1945-1946” Masters of Jazz, Media7 France cd This is a nice volume in the series with some live material in better sound than I have elsewhere. I’m hoping one day to find and buy Volumes 16 and 17.
  6. Huh. I have that one too. Doesn't have the interview though. (I found a reason to have the Classics as well--rationalization is a collector's necessity). And yes the Classics are getting harder to find, especially affordably, though some I see now and then are cheap--less popular or known artists. . . .
  7. This material was also in the Chronogical Classics series of Ellington cds, "1933" https://www.discogs.com/release/26438309-Duke-Ellington-And-His-Orchestra-1933

  15. Yes, they are quite good. Now. . . . A big storm passed through two hours or so ago. About half the blooms on our dogwood have been dashed to the ground. No damage that I have discovered yet however. Going to be a mild day, I think. Starting off with a newly arrived cd from Lauren Henderson, “Musa.” Great choice of tunes, and nice, nice, nice. What a sensuous voice.
  16. When I first started collecting LPs this one was all over. I had already started collecting Miles records so I never picked this up, knowing I was going to get all the albums separately. But a friend had this and it would be spun during some partying.
  17. I get that but the solos and melodies are worth it for me. I have a lot of the Mercer material on Chronogical Classics cds.

  22. Starting off a beautiful morning with a disc I have not spun in a while. I need to get more Weber Iago. Such an interesting writer and pianist. Weber Iago “Os Filhos Do Vento: Children of the Wind” Adventure Music cd This is more classical than jazz . . . pastoral, evoking vivid texture.
  23. I have and really enjoy the six cd complete set, but someone gave me this promo sampler. . . and wow. Wow. This is a great disc, a great summation of the set. “Things Ain’t What they Used to Be” right where it is is very effective.
