    Gold Rush?

Well can you list the songs? The link in the initial post is to a photo with Nagel Heyer Records on it. (But not all track different as at least "Sweet Lorraine" is on the Jazz at Storyville Vol. 2 I posted. . . that tune was the only clue I had to work on other than Braff and Russell).
  4. An old friend of mine had a similar issue with one foot in the mid-eighties after a motorcycle accident. He was so bummed as he thought he had perfected a manly strut that served him well (yeah, he was like that) and had finally gotten used to the condition when. . . the nerves grew back seemingly and he returned to normal (mobility-wise at least).
  5. One of my barrack mates in boarding school in M'Babane had a few Spooky Tooth albums which were contemporary then. I remember liking them well enough, though I was more into Cream, Hendrix, Mayall and other artists then. I don't remember hearing them since.
  6. Not in the same way you seem to. I have re-read books I read as a young person and remembered why I loved to escape into their universes, and realized they are cruder entertainment now than they were then--but I still enjoy the re-reading and still enjoy re-reading some. . .authors such as Burroughs, Stout, Moorcock, Collins, A.A. Fair, et al.
  7. There are authors whose work I have re-read over the decades and gotten more out of them each time as my life experience has increased. For example Philip K. Dick, Henry Miller, Raymond Chandler, Cordwainer Smith.

    Gold Rush?

All I can see is a cover of the link but could it be this? https://www.discogs.com/release/3519526-Pee-Wee-Russell-Ruby-Braff-Jazz-At-Storyville-Vol-2
  9. I love the "Big Band and Quartet" material, and there is more recorded on the European tour that is excellent listening.
  10. Miles Davis “Nefertiti” Mobile Fidelity SACD Followed by Disc 6 of “The Duke Ellington Centennial Edition: The Complete RCA Victor Recordings (1927-1973)” This is some amazing music. . . of its time but still exciting and involving.
  11. Gosh. . . my hearing still measures well according to my checkups and I can still hear differences. My wallet wishes I couldn't. . . but my system shows me improvements and I still seek them out. Part of the fun. . . for me.
  12. Count Basie “The Golden Years” Pablo Records 4 cd set, disc 1–the live tracks. 599×512 99.5 KB
  13. Tommy Flanagan “Lets play the music of Thad Jones” Enja Records/Solid Records Japan cd
  14. Okay. I remember slightly differently. I don't listen to music on youtube. I'll dig out the discs and compare again one of these days.
  15. If you say so. I hear differently in his earliest recordings from Minton's.
  16. You're right, they should all be gone. I thought I had all these but I can't find my copy of "Cat Walk" so I'm pm'ing for that one. C'mon guys. These are bargains.
  17. Bill Evans “Another Time: The Hilversum Concert” Resonance Records cd Hard to believe it will soon be six years since this was released! Great sound. Gomez shines.
  18. Peggy Lee “I Like Men” Capitol/Universal Music Japan LP facsimile cd 2022
  19. Monk was amazing. And strange. His earliest recordings show him as a sort of Teddy Wilson/Art Tatum player, or at least far more so than later. Then it seems to me that he had a sort of Ellingtonian phase and that he edited his playing down to essentials and beyond . . . until finally he was edited down to silence! He was able to create captivating ear worms that become major melody components. You can listen to him all your life without fatigue.
  20. “The Complete Capitol Recordings of Woody Herman” Mosaic Records, disc IV Fun swinging stuff in great sound.
  21. Carmen McRae "Ms Jazz" Groove Merchant cd Bass – Paul West Drums – Jimmy Madison Guitar – Bucky Pizzarelli Piano – Tom Garvin Tenor Saxophone – Zoot Sims
  22. She'll never hear it. I do 99 percent of my listening when she is at work. NP After hearing Slim Gaillard’s brilliant parodies of Billy Eckstine on “Smorgasbord” yesterday it was time to hear the man himself! Billy Eckstine and Quincy Jones “At Basin Street East”
  23. Ictus Records was offering a huge discount on their catalog before the end of the year, if you bought ten or more of their releases they were 1 dollar each plus postage. I got a few dozen, knowing I’m not the target audience for this music but figuring it was a good way to experiment with some challenging listening. To my surprise they even threw in four bonus free cds. This is one of them: 600×602 68.6 KB Maybe I would subtitle it. . .“music to wash dishes by”? I’ll say this it’s very well-recorded. My dog Fiona does NOT like it. Andrew Raffo Dewar, Andrea Centazzo, Anne LeBaron “Encantamientos” Harp [Acoustic Harp], Harp [Electric Harp] – Anne LeBaron Percussion, Electronics [Live Electronics] – Andrea Centazzo Recorded By, Mixed By, Mastered By – Clay Chaplin Soprano Saxophone – Andrew Raffo Dewar
