  1. It's warmed up to 3 degrees! Above Zero!
  2. I ordered 12. They won't make any money off this offer.
  3. We lost power last night . . . which gave us traumatic flashbacks of twelve total days two winters ago without power, heat, water when the weather was even a bit warmer. . . but it came back on again four minutes later to our relief. Still no plows have come into our neighborhood and we've canceled a trip to the West side (about 50 minutes in normal weather) planned for this afternoon to see my brothers and their families. This is a lonely Xmas now as both Lucy and I no longer have parents among the living. Sigh.
  4. My favorite Xmas release.
  5. “Miles Davis In Concert” Sony SICP-4236 600×600 111 KB Still remember being so into this when it was first released. I still have the 2 LP set I then bought. . . this is a 2 CD set from Japan in 2014.
  6. Putney Dandridge "1935-1936" Chronogical Classics cd More fun music from this former accompanist of "Mr. Bojangles" who was heavily influenced by Fats Waller as a singer. The broad Bechet-esque vibrato is less pronounced here than on the later recordings.
  7. Rudolph Johnson "The Second Coming" Black Jazz Records/Real Gone Music cd

  10. When I leave the mono button on it is. Now, another Stefon Harris.
  11. I doubt that they could record that Quintet as it was signed to Columbia, probably exclusively. Maybe they were just out to hear the group, and Francis probably took his camera around with him. This was not long after "Open Sesame" was recorded.
  12. “Recorded December, 1961–Johnny Hodges, Soloist–Billy Strayhorn and the Orchestra” Verve/Analogue Productions SACD

  18. Jose James “New York 2020” disc 1 This one is nice, I let it sit too long after giving it a first listen last year. Bass – Ben Williams Drums – Jharis Yokley Electric Guitar – Marcus Machado Keyboards – BIGYUKI
  19. Stanley Turrentine “The Spoiler” Blue Note Japan cd UCCU-8112 I’ve always liked this one–what a band, and the Pearson arrangements really frame Stan. 21. “Mingus Epitaph” Columbia 2 cd set, disc 1
  22. “Mingus Epitaph” Columbia 2 cd set, disc 2 This large ensemble piece sounds better and better the more my system is improved.
