  11. Yes, I have a Japanese cd and the sound is so much better than the Stereo US copies I've had it's not even funny!
  12. Went to see my Dad today. This month he's been in hospice a year, bed-ridden but alert and upbeat. And in just over a week or so he'll be 90. The whole family will be together again for the first time in six months or so. On the way there I listened to: Chet Baker "Indian Summer" Dutch Jazz Archives Series NJA 0701. Dick Twardzik. . .what a fascinating pianist, gone way too soon. On the way back I listened to: Sonny Rollins "What's New" RCA/Sony Japan cd And listened to some sad news on the radio. Right now I'm playing: Joao Gilberto "Vox e Violao"
  13. Wow, interesting news.
  14. Who needs Frank anyway? Count Basie "Live at the Sands--(Before Frank)" Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD LOCKJAW!
  15. They've been out there in collector land since before the Atlantic fire so I suspect there are sources to choose from.
  16. No. He's co-produced a number of sets before. He is one of three co-producers of the latest Armstrong.
  17. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers "3 Blind Mice" TOCJ-9429 Japan cd in the "Superbit Jazz Classics" series of LP facsimile cds. Best sounding version of this I've ever heard. I only wish they had included the second volume in this series.
  18. Rhiannon Giddens With Francesco Turrisi ‎"There Is No Other"
  19. Couldn't file this 2 disc set away without starting off the morning listening with disc 1. Dexter Gordon "Live at Chateauvallon 1978" Really like this set.
  20. +1. This is why Mosaic needs to survive.
  21. It's been a good season.
  22. This date sounds so much better in mono! The stereo I have heard has Monk in one channel, the band in another. Which is a fun listen. . . once.
  23. Dexter Gordon "Live at Chateauvallon 1978" disc 2 Needed some Dexter in my day. Some pretty mellow playing here in this second set, and the sound is really nice.
  24. Freddie Hubbard/Stanley Turrentine "In Concert, Volume One" King Records Japan " CTI 50th Anniversary Special Collection" cd, KICJ 2582 Also sounding really good! Bass – Ron Carter Drums – Jack DeJohnette Guitar – Eric Gale Piano – Herbie Hancock Saxophone – Stanley Turrentine Trumpet – Freddie Hubbard
  25. I haven't spun this in a long time. It's different than the Black Dahlia release. . . Less agenda driven I'd say, but I remember it as being very good but a bit disconnected for me as it's a soundtrack album more than I'd like. I'm not a fan of those.
