One John Coltrane milestone Atlantic release did not seem enough this morning. Another great sounding remaster.

Antonio Arnedo "Colombia" Adventure Music cd.
I took a chance on this one because it's on Adventure Music and I enjoy nearly every issue of theirs. Was not a risk--this is a very interesting release! Harmolodic in essence I'd say, some very heavy percussive tracks, some sparse ethereal tracks, all excellently recorded and fascinating music.
I'll look for more of his releases.
Sarah Ruden is an excellent classical scholar and has a very interesting view into the time of the Gospels and her translation is intriguing and thought-provoking.

If you search there are discussions of these recordings on the forum. I myself have bought half a dozen of the cd versions. I like this series a lot. I have bought mine from amazon or eBay.
"Two Jims & Zoot" Jim Raney, Jim Hall, Zoot Sims, Steve Swallow, Osie Johnson. Mainstream/Solid Records cd Japan.
Just right for looking out onto the snowy trees today.
I'm listening to a bit of Phil Woods too . . .
Thelonious Monk "Big Band and Quartet in Concert" Columbia 2 cd set, disc 1 (from the "Live" Columbia box set).
I've always liked all the material I have heard from this tour. The musicians seemed to be having fun and also to be serious about the music.
Yes. Freddie Hubbard ruined the only time I got to see Herbie, Wayne, Ron and Tony--he arrived late, very drunk, got irate at an audience member during the first number he participated in and walked off. The show ended with 35 minutes of playing time. Sigh.
Sometimes the drugs(including drink) free up mental energy and blocks from anxiety and other plagues and aid the player, and can even ease muscle motion. Not always, and not for everyone. But that can be an allure--especially if it has happened before.
I needed some soothing. So I spun two discs from soothing singers.
Eliane Elias "Love Stories"
Then
Helen Merrill "Lilac Wine"
That worked! Now I need something more bracing. . .
Thelonious Monk "Live at the It Club" disc 2
(I am finally getting used to the remastered It Club recordings, after decades of listening to them on LP with Columbia reverb painted on heavily).
Japan has their very own unique system of cd manufacturing and distribution that is Japan-centric and doesn't really seem to take into account international sales with some exceptions (Sony seems to, their Blu-Spec and Blu-Spec CD2 and SACD releases seem to be kept in print "long time.") As I understand it they at least used to query stores and sales points about upcoming presses, adjust their pressing quantities accordingly, and distribute. They may then repress or remaster and re-release as demand arrives. . . or not.
