Well, only one features trumpeter Lee Morgan, but Freddie Hubbard and Blue Mitchell contribute strongly to the others.

  4. Obviously nonsense. Possibly https://www.discogs.com/artist/2682459-Tommy-Banks
  5. Amazon shows the cd release as two cds with 100 minutes total so I would say the answer is "yes." The two cd edition includes two additional performances: Time On My Hands and Stella By Starlight.

  7. Yes, they are all really good!
  8. My first three were records given to Peace Corps volunteers by Atlantic Records my father directed in Swaziland (Eswatini). One of the volunteers didn't like them and gave them to me: Thomas Bell and the Contemporary Jazz Quartet "Another Dimension," Leo Wright "Blues Shout," Slide Hampton "Sister Savlation," mono copies. I still have them. When I came back to the states I heard "Filles de Kilimanjaro" in the library and bought a copy of that, then "Bitches Brew," "Miles Davis at the Fillmore" and "Live/Evil." "In a Silent Way" was probably next. Then I started going further back into his catalog and following sidemen on Blue Note, Prestige etc. as well as moving forward into Weather Report, Return to Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra etc.

I've had that thought. A pretty big "personal habit" might have been a contributing factor to a diminished career as well. I wonder how his life was in the Ray Charles band.

  23. The applause IS present on this one. I believe that the applause is dubbed in and this one uses the LP master tape. The Columbia cds seem to use a pre-dubbed master tape. No release of this I have heard, LP or cd, sounds less than really good. This one has just a touch more "dimensionality" to it to my ears. Amazing music.
  24. Revisiting an old favorite in a favorite version. Duke Ellington "Jazz Party in Stereo" Mobile Fidelity gold cd Engineering and artistry meet in an epic encounter.
