  1. Congrats! I've heard good things and I'm glad you are happy with a new system "heartbeat."

  6. You have to really like Helen and if you do you'll like it. It's later Helen, which is different than younger Helen in many ways, and it's a pretty mellow session. Pretty, and mellow for the most part. Nicely arranged by her then hubby Torrie Zito and has a sort of Gil Evans like cloudy climate.
  7. Finlandia Records
  8. Kurt Elling "1619 Broadway--the Brill Building Project" The other 1619 project.
  9. Some interesting songs here worthy of rediscovery. Helen Merrill "Carrousel--Songs by Saramonto"
  10. Sal Nistico "Live at Carmelo's 1981" Fresh Sound 2 cd set, disc 2 Back at the end of the 'nineties I transferred this to cdr from a cassette that Danny (DEEP) D'Imperio sent me. This sounds considerably better. Interesting work by all. Bass – Frank De La Rosa Drums – Chuck Piscitello or John Dentz Piano – Frank Strazzeri Tenor Saxophone – Sal Nistico
  11. I've heard differences between players and transports and as a general rule I'd say you get what you pay for. Congrats! Seems like a great player. I like to use Antônio Carlos Jobim "Stone Flower" (either the Japanese RVG UHQCD or the King Jazz Blu-Spec CD) and Duke Ellington "Indigos" (Impex Gold cd) and Duke Ellington "Jazz Party" (Mobile Fidelity Labs Gold cd) and Barney Wilen "New York Romance" (Sunnyside or Venus cd) to test playback. These tell me most that I need to know about how a CD player will play back my system, including low volume and rather highly compressed discs.
  12. Again. This album is like an ultra cleanse for me. I love it so.
  13. Damn autocorrect. I bet you meant Joe Beck.
  14. Roy Hargrove's Crisol "Habana" Verve cd I forgot how much fun this one is.
  15. Yes. It's also become a huge part of my inner life.
  16. Joa Donato "So Danca Samba" Acoustic Bass – Jorge Helder Alto Saxophone, Flute – Ricardo Pontes Piano – João Donato Drums – Wilson das Neves Percussion – Sidinho Moreira Trombone – Vittor Santos Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Jessé Sadoc, Nelson Oliveira Lumiar Discos ‎– LD40-01/99 All Jobim compositions, done in Donato's unique way. When my late first wife was ill I listened to this often just to keep me on the right path. It worked, it helped.
