  1. Two Josh White sides, including the "Careless Love" with Bechet, are here: https://www.discogs.com/Sidney-Bechet-The-Port-Of-Harlem-Jazzmen-Summertime/release/13424207
  2. I have those Muzak as well as Griffin, Webster, Gordon, Simms/Brookmeyer, Bud Powell, and Jackie and Roy. All sound superb!
  3. Chick Corea & Origin "Change" Chick Corea & Origin "Change"
  4. I can understand the mixed emotions, but I've had a mono lp of this title since the early 'seventies and over time it's become a sentimental favorite. What I used to think as corny I now really dig. It's like the antidote to the Aglo Saxon Party line we face now.
  5. Dave Douglas Quintet "Brazen Heart" disc 1
  6. Sal Salvador "Quintet / Kenton Presents the Sal Salvador Quartet" Blue Note Connoisseur cd. Two 10" records--one Blue Note, one Capitol, reissued on one cd. Nice stuff that I haven't played in way too long.
  7. Cool. I have both the vinyl releases as well. I like them, and think new mastering will benefit them. I don't listen to my vinyl much as my digital playback sounds better to me and I just sort of forget about vinyl I have. . . so I'm looking forward to the cds.
  8. Thanks Chuck. I knew those would be new, was unsure of some of the material on the other release.
  9. I'm excited about the reissue of "Circulus" anf "Circling In" some of this on cd for the first time I believe.
  10. A number of Corea releases, including a Blue Note session or two never on cd, are being released in a matter of weeks in Japan in new mastering. (It's not just Blue Note but a career spanning issue but I think all the Blue Note leader studio sessions are included). This may have factored in the decision Mosaic may have made to not do a Corea set at this time.
  11. William Parker "I Plan to stay a Believer: the Inside Songs of Curtis Mayfield" disc 1 I believe in life, and the dignity and sanctity of life
  12. "The Complete Louis Armstrong Columbia and RCA Studio Recording 1946 to 1966" Mosaic Records, disc 6 More alternates from "Plays Fats Waller" and then "The Real Ambassadors." I've always loved that album. Sound on this set is just grand!
  13. "Miles Davis at Fillmore" was one of the first records I bought for my collection way back in the early 'seventies, and "Thursday Miles" was my favorite side. Today I'm listening to disc 2, the unedited "Thursday Miles" of this set, the Bootleg Series Vol. 3, the Japanese Blu-Spec CD2 version. LOVE this music!
  14. Lost in Space, Netflix, Season 2. I have to admit they've done this series quite well.
  15. At least that's more polite than the response I got when I suggested a Babs Gonzales set. . .Michael wrote back "Lon you are out of your mind!" Which was a pretty good response to a request for a Gonzales set!
  16. Archie Shepp, "Lover Man" Timeless cd, Japan
  17. "Live at the Festival" Enja/Solid Records cd, Japan Evans, Shepp, Korg, Land, Hutcherson. . . . Great stuff.
  18. "Duke Ellington and John Coiltrane" Impulse Japan UHQCD It's just so wonderful to be able to have these recordings. I'll continue to listen to this one for decades.
  19. It's been a long time since I have heard this one. I always remember it as "Mahavishnu Tull" and I'm listening to the Steven Wilson remix which suits this album to a T. "A" Jethro Tull
  20. "The Complete Louis Armstrong Columbia and RCA Studio Recording 1946 to 1966" Mosaic Records, disc 5 Such fun--Pops playing Fats!
  21. My two cents Brad. . . if you haven't a collection of SACDs then a DAC might benefit your system more than an SACD player. There has been an improvement in digital to analog conversion over the last decade. The whole system would likely benefit from better sound and you will likely be quite content using your Rotel as a transport. You may have a hard time finding one that will pass along and decode the HDCD specifics, but you might also be able to use your Rotel for HDCD discs if you have an additional analog input downstream.
  22. If you have a preamp or amplifier or integrated amplifier that is truly balanced and has inputs for a balanced connection, yes, I think it may be worth strongly considering. If your downstream components are single-ended I wouldn't think you need to look for that feature. Yes, I bought a UDP-205 shortly before they closed up shop. I mainly use it to decode my DVR digital output and for SACD, DVD and Blu-ray discs. Redbook cd playback I'm not over the top about. I'm used to better in the other systems I have. But that's okay. An hour ago I was listening to the Spectrum jazz channel to a track from "Beck/Abercrombie" and it sounded superb. It's too bad that Oppo has gone out of the audio business--their products are easy to recommend for almost any inquirer.
  23. SFJazz Collective "The Works of Horace Silver Plus Original Compositions" disc 2
  24. No, I don't think so!
