  1. I'm just glad the man is safe and sound and not in the back of some Cadillac in duct tape, or in the foundation of a new parking garage, or on a month long bender at Danny D'Imperio's.
  2. Many many more happy returns Pete!
  3. You know the answer already.
  4. Some of the music on eMusic sounded awful, bad lp burns. Hopefully this will be an improvement? That said. . . I have a lot of the label and it's decent music if not the most amazing sounding stuff.
  5. Great set. I love Debussy. Such wonderful music.
  6. Watched Game of Thrones, Season 3. Whoa. Watching Nash Bridges Season 3. I can't help it, I like Nash Bridges. . . just a fun show. Cheech and Jeff Perry and in this season Kelly Hu. . . fun characters and a few good actors.
  7. Laser doesn't play into it as far as I can tell or know. I do feel there's benefit to high resolution playback. If you are prone to wanting the best sound and can reproduce the nuances at home, an equivalent mastering in 96/24 may well sound better than a Redbook version. But fine sound can come from excellent mastering in any of those formats imo. On my system I think there may be a bit more of a discernible "difference" between SACD and the other formats, there just seems to be something a little different about the presentation of SACD and I like it. I buy SACD when cheap enough and the material is something I want to have. I don't do files so don't know how this pertains to DSD files of various resolution and the other formats.
  8. Bay Village, Ohio. . . park bench looking out at Lake Erie. Lucinda and I sit on these benches and watch the sunset on occasion.
  9. Japenese versions and some may be Japanese original sourced? Upcoming next month. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/person/700234113?order=new&opt.include_eoa=1 I have (not from Japan) the Hancock, as I did not pick up either of these albums in SACD and I don't do files. The sound is very good. There are also previously unreleased alternates of tracks on Empyrean Isle.
  10. Cool idea. Because I'd rather see pictures of people.
  11. "The Wind Cries Mary" definitely is important to "Filles de Kilamanjaro." You know as much as I would have liked to hear Miles and Jimi, what I would have liked to hear even more a real and studied collaboration with Gil Evans. Man that could have been amazing!
  12. Maybe they're following a sensible model regarding copies printed and stored.
  13. Perhaps so. There are several books I liked in my youth that I don't care much for now. I kind of shudder to think what I'd think of Catcher in the Rye now. Perhaps my experience is tainted in having had one or two of those hopeless love affairs, but I had at least a bit of dignity and managed to move on (even if it took a bit longer than it should have). I can't have any respect for a spineless character like Philip, and yet I don't take pleasure in thinking how much better I am than him (that's what I meant about car crashes and reality TV). Not my favorite by the author, but I do really like the author. May have read this (but not for school) about the time that Bev did, and could stand to tackle it again one day.
  14. Perhaps the website was down for maintenance or updating. It seems available now.
  15. He's mentioned in "We Called it Music" as a friend of Condon's and he shares at least one song-writing credit with him. . . .That's really all I know so far. Not sure if he is mentioned in the notes to the Commodore Records box sets. . . .
  16. CJ, I really like A New Perspective as well, and the SHM-CD sounds better than the RVG. There's an interesting different perspective to this recording, to me it seems that you are supposed to feel you are listening from a pew. This doesn't come off that well on previous cd issues but does come off better in the SHM-CD mastering. I have the new one. It sounds pretty good!
  17. Many Happy Happy returns!
  18. Track 14 is indeed "The Faithful Hussar." Track 4 is "Tiger Rag."
  19. Not identical I don't think. . . they may have originated with the same digital sources, but in mastering for CD the Japanese seem to have altered the EQ and added compression (if you believe a few who have compared both and reported on the 'net; I don't do digital files and haven't heard the HD Track version.) Plus. . . the SHMCD is reduced down to Redbook from the HD files, and that alone should make a sonic difference.
  20. Thanks.
  21. Blakey sure took it and ran with it.
