  1. Flurin, hope it's a great one, and many happy happy returns!
  2. Gershwin for sure, imo.
  3. Chopin and Mozart were masters of melody!
  4. lon, as you seem to quite into brasilian music, what would be your top five picks out of that reissue series - pls with a short reasoning, if possible..... Okay, first off: "Sergio Mendes Presents Edu Lobo." Wonderful. "Em Formal" by Bossa Tres is very good, just great swinging. "Tamba Trio" by Tamba Trio is also a favorite. "Musica Livre de Hermeto Pascoal" . . . rich and fascinating music. "India" by Gal Costa. Great program of her music.
  5. Not much time at the moment. . . will ponder and reply when I can.
  6. Some great reissues coming at budget prices! http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/products?term.cat_id=UA-09&order=rel&range.rel=2015%2F06%2F10%2C2015%2F06%2F10&page=2
  7. It's so funny, when we lived in Swaziland where my Dad was to be the first Peace Corps program Director, when we would meet some Swazis and say we were American they would say "Oh, you are from the country where Percy Sledge lives!" My Dad had no idea who Percy Sledge was, I knew little more than the name. It turns out that Sledge had done a tour of southern Africa and had played in the Somhlolo Stadium (built for the nation's independce celebrations which we all attended) as one of the first stars to perform and was a big hit and a big name in Swaziland. RIP Percy. I know they miss you there still.
  8. Congrats!
  9. There are as many correct answers as there are listeners! Jobim is definitely on my list . . . as well as Beethoven, Waller, Ellington, Strayhorn and many more.
  10. It will be very good. I have been enjoying some of the individual Italian Blue Note CDs over recent weeks by the Quintet and they are consistently strong. Think Miles 'Sorcerer' period with an Italianate finish. They weren't very easy to find over here and just as I had found most of them second hand Universal put them out for cheap in a box, damn them. Sonics on these CDs are excellent too. Thanks. I placed an order.
  11. They could be RVGs.
  12. That's a cool looking set, what little I've heard has been intriguing.
  13. Cool! Amazon has the MP3s now, will probably have the discs for pre-order soon.
  14. I am not certain that there will be a next batch, somewhere I saw "final batch" mentioned for the March releases. . . so far I have not seen any announced.
  15. Cool! Hope it comes out on disc so I can see it.
  16. Yes, I'm aware of what has been released, but I think we would have seen them by now from this series mastering if Universal were interested in doing so. We haven't seen them, I suspect we won't. It's fine with me if they issue them, I probably wont' buy them or many of them, but if others want them I'll hope they come out. But I don't expect them to.
  17. I don't believe that is likely to happen Greg.
  18. Many Happy Returns Evan!
  19. I have a few of hers and like them. An interesting woman.
  20. It started off too slow for my tastes but it soon became a favorite show. I think if you enjoy BB and Saul there, it adds a dimension to this show, but it stands on its own too I believe. Check it out. Now watching "The Returned" on A&E.
  21. I don't see why "New Releases" and "Reissues" isn't fine for our use.
  22. The season finale of Better Call Saul. This show surprised me being different than I anticipated, and excellent.
  23. I believe they have been mastered differently.
  24. Many happy returns Allen!
