  1. I also posted this on the Decware forum as there are collectors there who may be interested.
  2. Check in the mail for the LPs I requested, and a PM on all the Henry Red Allen titles. Thanks Pete!
  3. PM sent about Condon, Teagarden and Russell titles. All of them. Thanks.
  4. I can tell the difference immediately. Just doesn't look right to me in juxtaposition to the rest of the show, so I watch the original version.
  5. I enjoy Spirits. It's different than his other works, and enjoyable for that reason. It's also just interesting music. I've not yet sampled No End. Something has held me back. I really like his organ and harpsichord work.
  6. I've watched a few episodes with the new effects but I too prefer the original version when I watch on Blu-ray.
  7. The Americans. . . good start to the season. Elementary. . . nice wrap up of the Kitty storyline Scandal . . . weird return from hiatus. Empire. . . I just like watching Taraji.
  8. I think those are the original colors, just the resolution reveals the flaws.
  9. I'm both a fan and not a fan. My late wife hated it and said she saw all sorts of chauvinistic things and yeah, some are in there. The philosophical things are often on the sleeve which is a pet peeve of mine (subtlety is a better road to travel imo). Some of the aliens and the sets were so ridiculous, even for the time. I watched these in the early 'seventies on repeat (was in Afirca all the broadcast years) and they never did much for me, then I watched the whole series again on disc in '12 and '13. The remastered material on Blu-ray looks and sounds fantastic.
  10. I hear you there danasgoodstuff. My Dad has been diagnosed with Multiple Systems Atrophy (Parkinsonian type) and as I've inherited all his other physical things. . . well. . . I'm getting a bit afraid. It's not a good thing at all.
  11. I've never had a divorce. My girlfriend has had a doozy. Full of bitterness and overt hostility on both sides. Took about four years to get past and move on, anew. Some of the nastiness could have been avoided. . . . I would invite anyone going through a divorce to avoid as much of the negative and nasty aspects as possible.
  12. It will certainly look nice! I bet if you were serious about a purchase you could get the company to give you a pretty good idea of the action, the pickup sound, etc. Poplar is a pretty nice tone wood, I have two guitars with a poplar core and black walnut tops and bottoms. They sound a lot like a crisper mahogany tone.
  13. Interesting. They are probably good guitars. The big innovation is the curved bodies. I doubt that makes a particular difference in the sound, may make them more comfortable to play. . .but how uncomfortable are the traditional wooden shapes?
  14. Thank goodness for cell phones eh page? Liefs my friend. One of my fears will be taken off the list at least for a while if Valentine's night goes as planned. . . .
  15. I agree, some fascinating music. We lost that man too young! (Not an uncommon occurrence in the world of jazz).
  16. Of course! Just funning. Those posts above mine were written after I began writing mine, but I was interrupted before finishing my post. Such is my situation now. Constant interruptions! I'll get used to it one day.
  17. Hey, I wasn't talking to you.
  18. Of course, I never met Django... But he played electric once, during his tour with Duke Ellington in the States, but it wasn't a success and he never played amplified again. Django used Selmer guitars, typical gypsy jazz instruments with an oval sound hole and very high action. The 'Modèle Jazz' ( changed to 'Modèle Django Reinhardt' later), made famous by Django Reinhardt. And the Selmer Maccaferri... I was under the impression that he played electric guitar after that tour with Duke. . . not exclusively, but some,
  19. Just a note to add that Django certainly played electric guitars as well and I'm not sure they were all Selmers equipped with pickups. . . .
  20. Finished this: Started this:
  21. More years caregiving my Dad, especially as his condition worsens. Spending the rest of my life without someone to love at the center.
  22. I have it. I thnk it's a splendid box set,
  23. Gershwin Prelude no.2 It's just so beautiful.
