  1. These are now available on cdjapan for preorder.
  2. I don't think it has appeared in an audiophile form. Of the two US releases, the two versions I've heard, I prefer the RVG but I know many do not like RVGs.
  3. I like it. It's not as "progressive" a date as "A New Perspective" but it has its charms indeed. Nice engineering too imo. Our mileage often varies so I hesitated to say anything about the music.
  4. Right, you're referring to "Third Plane" by Carter on Milestone. I can't think of another offhand. . . .
  5. I'll get it eventually. . . I just looked, I have books I bought a year ago not yet gotten to!
  6. Scandal Season 3.
  7. I agree, I'd buy all those. Maybe some will be in the next batch.
  8. Hasn't been reissued yet.
  9. Happy birthday Ann, and many happy happy returns!
  10. Those that I have are great music discs and sound decent, not Cedared "to death" imo.
  11. Watched three more episodes of Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, I'm caught up now. This is a good show. . . with Lisa Edestein, Beau Garrett and Necar Zadegan lots of eye candy.
  12. Yes, it was done in the 24 bit series that many here don't seem to like. . . I have them both, they both sound pretty good to me.
  13. To be fair, TOCJ did release "Natural Essence" TWICE. That was generous! I may go for "Trying to get Home" and "A New Perspective" as well, those should sound really good in the 24 bit edition.
  14. Thanks for posting this Laton. Interesting how the ones I'm most interested in are all right in a row: UCCQ 5114 Bobby Hutcherson: Dialogue +1 UCCQ 5115 Andrew Hill: Andrew! +2 UCCQ 5116 Sam Rivers: Contours +1 UCCQ 5117 Tony Williams: Spring UCCQ 5118 Andrew Hill: Compulsion UCCQ 5119 Don Cherry: Complete Communion
  15. You can wish you had a choice. . . but Louis probably didn't.
  16. Interesting article. Louis owes his career in many ways to the Jones family establishing that home and his 1913 arrest!
  17. Granola or sometimes mueslix, coffee.
  18. Oh I use reverb, but nothing beats strings for me, I have to have real spring reverb, not a pedal. I have a Fender '63 Reissue Reverb head, and I also have a Schreyer Audio SpringVerb. Both are great (the Schreyer is solid state and has longer springs, so a different beast).
  19. Though I have two Damage Control dual tube effects pedals (Liquid Blues Distortion and Glass Nexus) I haven't plugged them in at all since I moved from Texas (and oddly began playing more as I have many afternoons to myself as my only time off and the complex is deserted and I can make some noise). I mainly use a clean signal no effects, more than ninety percent of the time. But I do have this and love it: I can get this so that my lines are nice and fat and chords have just a nice bit of crunch. Sort of like power tube distortion coming on. It sounds great and gives me just what I want. And if I feel the itch I can really get it fat and fuzzy and distorted.
  20. Only then? Not only then. PARTICULARLY during this BH years.
  21. I think I'll try to watch The Knick when it hits disc at a decent price. Today watched a couple of old Millionaire Matchmaker episodes . . . I like this show. And now last night's Person of Interest.
  22. I bought this one on amazon for .o1 plus shipping and didn't know what to expect. Has a lot of versions that I don't have at all elsewhere, so a good find!
  23. Looks as if Frankie retired at 56 or so in '84. He may have been tired, may have been too much pain and hassle. He spent a lot of time it seems with Lionel Hampton. That may be a reason too!
  24. She was so lovely then! RIP Ms Douglas.
