Sons of Anarchy series finale. Meh. Glad it's over.

I don't think anyone has the set yet. Perhaps in a day or two, maybe even later today. Is the Chaloff material shared between these two sets? I'm unsure.

Exercise Regimen - What You Got?

I think that's because we have more than our share of "confusion" as a jazz fan and collector. -
I disagree and think it's possible that they have uncovered something on the recording, and I don't believe they are prevaricating or occluding the truth. We'll see.
-
But the "problem" is that it reveals what's on the recording (according to them). I'm not dissing it til I hear it that's all, you seem to have prejudged it as being awful.

Anybody has the new Mobile Fidelity Bitches' Brew lp set?
jazzbo replied to bogdan101's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Jay, I don't have the Mobile Fidelity LPs but the 40th Anniversary sounds very much like the original LPs and that's wonderful. I don't really think that you need the Mobile Fidelity. I did get the SACD because I wanted the original mix on SACD and the sound is wonderful. -
Well, Marlowe used this processing on the Carter-Bradford Mosaic Select which sounds great and I don't hear artifacts there. Also used on International Phonography reissues which sound artifact free and excellent. So I'm expecting great sound to be honest.

I don't listen to the radio except when it's playing for my father (I spend about twelve hours a day most days taking care of him). And then it's the excellent listener supported classical station. So, no I don't listen to jazz on the radio. I have thousands of cds to listen to instead, and some records. At the end of the 'seventies I just got so tired of djs talking, especially those tag team talking characters, that I just got as far away from radios as I could. If I had to suffer through a radio in the workplace I did as well as I could. This move away from radio listening coincided with my growing interest in jazz, so jazz has not really ever been radio content for me. My best friend had an hour a week on the radio and played mostly jazz, and I would try to listen to that when I could, but even that was hard as my wife generally had other plans for that hour. . . .

I agree, Tommy was quite a player!

I don't know Laton, not as sure of its selling power as you are but it would be great. Better from Mosaic to be honest, that would be a good set. I have all the volumes on Masters of Jazz which go into the Victor years, and the cds of the rest of that, the King Jazz sides. . . just music that you can get lost in.

Exercise Regimen - What You Got?

I'm a walker. About thirty minutes twice a day, most days. Works well enough for me. . . no walking will make me supermodel thin, but I'm healthy enough and have attracted a girl of my dreams who calls me her "burly man" so I'm good. -

Cool, I definitely will if I get down there. I'll add the caveat that I probably won't be leaving Ohio for any trips for any length of time. My sister is pressuring my Dad to move in with her and her husband in Richmond but he clearly does not want to go. And I'm in charge of caring for him here which is a seven day a week job for me and prohibits me from traveling. News for this week is that my Uncle (Jack Armstrong the All-American boy) is visiting this week from Portland and my Aunt Mary Alice is coming up in a few days for a few days from Michigan. It's really nice for my Dad to have his siblings here at this time. More work for me. . . but that's okay. -

Nice paintings Jon! -
Mine is shipping as well. Will be interesting to hear.

I like the set fine, and gave a copy to my Dad when the cheap version came out, and he likes it. I think the sound is great personally.

I think the hardest thing would be those Lords a-leaping. First off, find Lords who can leap! Then try to compensate them reasonably and try to schedule them all together. -

Richmond is a cool town, my sister lives there. Maybe I'll look you up if I get down there again this decade. Glad it suits you all. -

Thanks Scott. Hope the circus isn't too much of a bother or too long-lived. -

No Allen, I'm afraid I probably won't be residing in Texas again. Lucinda is an Ohio country girl, has a great little old house poised across a one lane road from a wildlife sanctuary and a half mile from a lake, and went with me to Texas this summer and will probably never go back: too hot, too big city. She's worth staying anywhere so . . . I'm an Ohioan again for a while though she has said that when she retires we may go somewhere a bit warmer, but her idea of that is Virginia, maybe North Carolina. -

Sorry to hear the one news, happy to hear the other Stefan! Yes, mixed emotions. . . that has really been the backdrop of this century for me. -

The big news in my world is my Mom died fifteen days ago. Peacefully, at rest, in her home, with her husband and half her children at hand. My Dad is doing pretty well cosidering, he turned a page the last few days and is moving past the worst grief. I am so glad I got to spend the last year and a half caring for both my parents and spend that time with her. http://www.geaugamapleleaf.com/obituaries/gloria-armstrong/ And I'm so grateful for the new love of my life who has been by my side the last seven months and through all the sad bits and given me so much comfort and hope. Thanks Lucinda!
