I listened to this one time through while doing other things, not sit down listening. I liked what I've heard. It's not going to please those who want DR13 mastering, but it's a good sounding disc with some interesting interpretations.

I'm going to get to this book eventually, right now I have about two years of reading stacked up before me. I love Bill Evans. I will listen to his music the rest of my life.

I know the "reason" for the tracks, but I'd rather they weren't here. But they are. Pompous meandering nonsense? No.

The first two episodes of "The 100." This is a WB show with lots of pretty twenty-somethings (including a busty Australian Reese Witherspoon resembles-a-lot) and a post apocalyptic Earth plot that is part Lord of the Flies and may become a Planet of the Apes clone before it's all done. Entertaining so far in a mindless TV way. Has Paige Turco and Henry Ian Cusick as grown ups in the cast and also Isaiah Washington as Chancellor Thelonious.

I don't have the answer to those questions. . . I skipped this one because I have the US and the TOCJ two cd sets and the Solid "Big Band" cds and the Big Band date is not that much of a favorite for me to go for yet another version. I haven't listened to any of the alternates in years.

kinuta, I love Nashville as well, T-Bone Burnett does a great job with the music, the casting is good, and I love seeing all those great guitars! I tried to watch Chicago Fire. . .but so far couldn't hang. May try it on disc. I want to because of Monica Raymund who was one of the great things about Lie to Me. (I see that she plays Gaby thanks to kinuta's post). She's gorgeous and reminds me of someone I love personality wise (as far as I can tell from what I see of her outside of characters she plays).

Well, the sound is definitely very inferior in comparison to the Tonkle-recorded tracks, and yeah, the music is good, I have them elsewhere, but I just don't really feel they belong here and I wish they weren't there. Just my take on it.

This release fascinates me. The music has been in my life in edited form for so long. A wonderful reissue in every way. My one quibble: why bother with the bonus material?
-
Hey, stuff happens. I made it through three episodes and bailed. Just started Californication Season Six.

Downtown Abbey was a no go for me, didn't at all ensnare me, didn't live up to the hype. Black Orpahn I worked my way through the season but it kept getting more and more ridiculous and I got more and more irritated with the gay sidekick. . . I probably won't go for season two.

I said this in the Vol. 2 thread: I've listened to the first two discs, as if in a trance. I don't know why they bothered with the bonus material except to make this truly a bootleg, as that is the only parts of this set that sound like one! I've learned two things by listening to these four nights unedited: one: Stan Tonkle did a fantastic engineering job on these nights, really sounds fantastic, and two: Teo (and Miles?) really did do an amazing job creating an exciting mosaic from these shows, jarring edits and all. It's so trippy to be listening to this after more than forty years of listening to the 2 lp set. I did have all four bootlegs, but these sound much better.

Volume 3? Great! I've listened to the first two discs, as if in a trance. Don't believe so.

This is only 10 with prime at amazon so I decided to try it out.

Complete Bud Powell Blue Note/Roost and Verve
jazzbo replied to BeBop's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'm really enjoying these discs. I haven't pulled out my Fresh Sound and earlier ESP Disk copies for comparison, they may still be in a box since my move across the nation and I haven't had the time to pull and do comparisons but I'm pretty sure all these tracks are improved here. -
Thanks for the headsup. Don't think ATO Records is the Garcia family label though. . . .
-
Meh. Was okay but could have been better. Not sure if I'm going to watch the next season or not.
-
Well, now we know which "The Good Wife" actor wanted out but was convinced to stay "one more season." Wow. I had no clue until Hunter Parish started eying the gun and seeing the lawyers laughing.
-
I went to bed instead of watching it, I was bone tired. Will watch it today.

"Hey Harold" from this new SHM-CD. There's weather reports, and then there's this seismic forecast. Just sounded and felt so so good this week.
-
They are loud (I've encountered a few louder). They work for me in my system though, and the sonic experience can be amazing. (I don't use headphones, I probably couldn't handle these on headphones, but I just don't do headphones). Listened to the Herbie Harper this morning.

Listening to "Friday Miles." We're getting close.
-
I'm glad it's available to listen to! I haven't spun my copy yet. Have listened to a half a dozen other titles from this batch and I think they all sound great.

The copy that I have is really a Japanese EMI production, not as far as I know specifically Blue Note. Part of an excellent Imo series of reissues from Pacific Jazz and other EMI labels.
