  1. I just take it as dished out if I have the time, and I don't do streaming so I still give the networks a chance. It's a good substitute for smypathetic company and Lord knows I can use that.
  2. By their definition I am way more than a savant. Very unfortunate choice of words, I would never claim to be really knowledgable about music, as the more I learn about music the more I feel that there is so much more to know and the less I am certain of what I know. I'm way beyond what they define as far as monetary and time investiment, so I must be either a musical "fool" or "stimulator of musical recording and musical playback industries."
  3. Not great so far but now bad, better so far than Alcatraz. Has Jake McLaughlin in it, who I think is a decent actor, I enjoyed his work in Crash Season 2. Also has the charismatic Delroy Lindo. It has a "Touch" influence, not a bad thing in my book.
  4. Premier of NBC's Believe
  5. ABC's Resurrection premier. 'Salright.
  6. On Solar Records. . . very slim possibility this is legit. A quartet recording! Interesting.
  7. Many happy happy returns!
  8. I got in some of the most recent batch today, including the Coleman, the Hill, the Gales and the McLean and the two ELVEENS. Will hopefully be listening over the next few days (I don't get to listen to too much jazz over the weekends, as I don't get time off from my "job").
  9. Last night's Raising Hope. I love this show.
  10. Have a great one, and many many more happy ones!
  11. I know Danny D'Imperio has been a big fan and friend.
  12. Very interesting Adrian! Thanks!
  13. Thanks for that assessment Stefan.
  14. I've read some Stark. Not bad.
  15. Anyone who says he can see through women. . . is missing a lot. Once I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know.
  16. Thanks for the inpressions and comparisons Jim! I have to say, on my system Wayne sounds sort of as he seems to on your lp. . . . I love this new SHM-CD. But I've never heard an lp, never even seen an lp copy. Would go for a well-pressed new one (though it's not the sort of date they tend to license and press).
  17. My guess is this is like the Horo cd reissues. Would love to be wroing.
  18. No, I've never read any Connie Willis.
  19. I'm pretty certain all the 7000 Chronicles releases are mastered at Concord Music Group Mastering Studios here in Cleveland by Paul Blackmore.
  20. No, it's one of the latest (the first though in internal chronology) of a series of novels about "Quarry," a Viet Nam vet turned professional hitman that Collins has written. Quite nice escapist fun to read, for me at least, I've read all the novels previous to this I believe.
  21. Favorably. Perhaps a bit more "fun" and a bit less rehearsed with a "serious" element.
  22. I've been spinning the Miles Davis and Milt Jackson Quartet/Quintet SHM-CD a lot since it arrived and really really digging it. The two Bennie Green SHM-CDs are also excellent. This is a great series, and I have to stop buying discs for a while, or I'd be all over these. I hope they hang around for a while. In this case the mastering is really making a difference, the "super hard material" may be making a bit of a difference, but the mastering is the reason to buy these imo. I like the mastering on the new Blue Note cds as well, but the improvements on these new Prestige masterings seems a bit larger to me. And interestingly in the case of the Blu-Spec 2 cds I've bought using masterings I have on regular cd, the Blu-Spec material and pressing method seem to have really had an impact as these sound improved, quite noticeably to me on my system, with the same materings. I have the Lateef Prestige SHM-CDs in the mail to me, looking forward to them!
  23. Darn, you're right Jim, I was thinking of Motto. It's been a long day and full of my Mom's drama about very undramatic things that I have had to keep explaining over and over. The new (non SHM-CD) Blue Note cd of Motto sounds so much better than the One Way cd. This new Iska sounds better than the early McMaster to me, much beteter.
