  1. Twice now in ten minutes I've said "DAMN Tony!"
  2. Amen. I downsized and wished I didn't have to. But then again it has its benefits.
  3. Hey, I have all those titles already too, but I like the sound on these new ones a lot better than earlier editions of material I have, I'm betting on similar improvement and enjoyment with these Green titles. I've been buying big from Japan this year, what with all the Bethlehem, Prestige, CTI, Sony and Blue Note reissues. Gulp. You can't take it with you.
  4. ME TOO.
  5. I'll wish for those. Not sure my secret powers work on Cuscuna and Wenzel though. . . they have magic talismans.
  6. I'm just waiting for them to find my secret bank account! It must be out there somewhere. . . I ordered all the Grant Green. What the hell.
  7. Thanks! I'm getting my wishes. How did that happen?
  8. Charles, you're important to my world. Thanks for all the joy and teaching.
  9. I don't know how they can say "these are the only recordings ever released from this group." Just not true.
  10. Thanks for articulating that Larry, that's how I feel: if he had not been the recipient of the tainted alcohol we may have had him longer, probably would have, maybe not as long as Teagarden for example, but. . . . We didn't.
  11. I'm down there with you LV. Well Paul, I'm sure that many people were harmed by this governmental move, if not Bix. Disgusting move on the part of the government.
  12. So if I poison someone's drink it's their responsibility because they drank it? This was a bad move on the part of the government. . . I honestly think we could have had more years of Bix if he hadn't ingested that toxin.
  13. Thanks for the heads up. The last few batches of Bethlehem from Solid have shown me that if you want these titles, pre-order them from Japan and you'll get them. You might not otherwise. . . . I've pre-ordered the Zoller, Shepp, Flanagan, Hawkins and Rouse.

    GREAT photo
  15. Yes, it's too bad Stanley Crouch didn't write the notes after talking with Wynton Marsalis about the concerts. That would generate some comments! I'm still excited about it and the good news for me is that my jazz listening time is so limited, and I do have to listen to other things. . . I can still be excited spinning these for many more listenings. Still haven't opened my set from Amazon.co.uk and done a comparison to the Blu-Spec 2 version from Japan. . . . Maybe soon.
  16. Good titles. I actually think the Prestige RVG series is a good one. I have them all.
  17. Many many many happy returns Erik!
  18. Not true bigshot, sorry. There's lots of snakeoil out there, polarity/phase sonic differences aren't among them. I mean, the woofer's direction of travel is actually reversed, that changes the sound. This is not the thread for this discussion.
  19. Person of Interest. Shaw and Root on one motorcycle.
  20. Have a royal birthday, and many more happy happy returns!
  21. It's not adding crossfeed. It's reversing phase. Look up absolute phase--reversing phase is not inaudible. http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/absolutephase.html Let's let the thread return to it's bargain basis.
  22. Oleo has such a great cover, I hope they use the original! It would be interesting to compare the Tina Brooks title in both XRCD24 and SHM-CD. I have the former and it sounds very good, though I believe the "house signature" of both masterings will make them sound significantly different. There will be a more traditional sound to the former and a more high resoltuion digital sound to the latter is my guess having listened to a number of releases in both series. My guesstimate: the XRCD24 will sound a bit more lp like in tonal balance, image density and soundstage, the SHM-CD will have a deeper soundstage and a bit more of an "edge" to the tonal balance, and a bit more distinctly perceived separation between and space about the instruments.
