  1. Also Airto's drumming. This was the first place I encountered Airto, over forty years ago, and Airto has led me to so many wonderful sessions in so many different styles of music. On this set he plays everything from traps to animal parts I think. Really made me think about percussion differently, hear beats differently too.
  2. I want them to take their time before releasing more. I need to catch up on listening and re-listening. Never has "so much to listen to and so little time" been more real for me.
  3. The Big Band and Quartet in Concert disc set is still in print in the US as far as I can tell.
  4. Many happy happy returns Allen. Here's hoping next year is all you want it to be!
  5. I guess "prose that interests you" because I have been interested in his prose since I was 13.
  6. You never know. Opinions on music are so varied. Plus there are other factors. . . sentimental reasons, nostalgic reasons. If this had come out when I was ecstatically happy I might have felt initially, and sequentially different about it. It came out though when I was poor and lonely and poring over ancient texts. Not a time period I feel a great saudade for. But I can see where this may have been an entry point into jazz for someone younger and a recording that is often revisited.
  7. Got my amazon.co.uk copy in Wednesday but haven't opened it, I have the Japanese version and am enjoying the hell out of it! It could only be better imo if the bonus tracks were saved for another bootleg edition or another release. But I'll just program those out of the two discs.
  8. I have Miles! Miles! Miles! and it's never done that much for me. . . I really am not a big fan of this band or period of Miles. I was so excited when these came out. . .and disappointed as it seemed to me at the time there wasn't much to the music he came back with. And though I've learned to like some of the albums (Star People especially) I don't really like the live stuff with Miller and Stern.
  9. Okay I did some research. Two cd versions of We Want Miles were released four times in Japan: SRCS 9133/4 SICP 1235/6 SRCS 9763/4 SICP 20084 (Blu-Spec) From this page: http://www.plosin.com/milesahead/Mastersound.html I own one of these. However, I was mistaken, these do not have bonus tracks. What I was thinking of was the one in the Complete Album Collection box set, that has bonus tracks. That was what I was thinking of. This new reissue seems to be the same as the version in the Coplete Album Collection.
  10. Nothing new, this is a reprint of an earlier Japanese 2 cd release which I have had since it first was released.
  11. I'd love to check out the Marty Napolean which I think is an EP. Too bad it's not generlly released.
  12. Many many happy returns
  13. Thanks for that info. Darn, I'd like to check out the Marty Napolean. Maybe one day.
  14. Well, I don't agree with you on the "level."
  15. crisp, glad you dug Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I've read all of Dick's works, most more than twice, and that one is a favorite. I love Maugham! Reminds me that I need to reread some soon.
  16. Yeah, but it's a BOOT. Sucks. JLH's release would mop the floor with it.
  17. We had mini-lps here in the states at first as well. The Adderley was not among them.
  18. Cool. Best of luck. Looks as if these will be difficult to obtain.
  19. Boy this is tough going. I've started this one as well for reading at my parents where I can be interrupted at any moment, moment after moment.
  20. Vocalion cds of these are available. . . . Just saying.
  21. Many many happy returns!
  22. I've had that album for decades. Quite an initeresting album.
  23. I'd love to see "Pee Wee Russell Plays" . . . though it's different than any of the other releases on the label, I think it has the requisite excellence. My dream release of it would have both stereo and mono versions.
